A list of fastest appreciating markets (by median price of house).

I'm betting the survey took place prior to the four hurricanes.

Interesting that Jacksonville's in there. I always thought it was one of FL's best keep secrets - I should have bought when I thought that!

Building on water will continue in Florida. That is one reason why people move here. Human's are resiliant.

If it gets bad enough the government will step in.
True Mike.
Although so far as building goes, we have been told by a reliable source that pretty soon any construction work to the south of I95 from the Daytona area will be stopped.. most likely within the next few years. Something about conservation of the areas natural habitats.
Once that happens then the property prices will increase again :)
There was also a rumor around Daytona recently that one of the main beaches were going to be zoned to allow development of casinos again, if that happens property prices will rise again :)
I do know that our home in the last 5 years has virtualy doubled in value and a lot of the homes that were damaged by the storms are selling EXTREMELY cheaply (well under market value) one house a block away from us which realistically should have sold for just under half a million sold for a fraction of that cost.

Yep thats true and from what some of our local realtors have been telling us over the past couple of months this may happen sooner rather than later, especially in the Daytona area of I95.

Of course the homs that are damaged are selling cheaply. however, the homes that weren't damaged in Places like pensicola are skyrocketing!

Mike..
I hear ya there but even with some of the damage on these homes that have been sold cheaply add a new roof ($17k) and the owners could have doubled their property sale.
I dunno i just dont get it, even on GAs parents blocks houses that should sell for a cool mill are going wll below that and some of them arent even damaged!

Scott from Traffic Dude mentioned that to us when he came to visit a few months ago, they are now selling homes in the Vegas outskirts with no tarmac yet by all accounts and whole developments are being purchased. Same will happen around here though should the county allow the re-zoning fr the casinos
The city I bought in last year is number 3 on that list, but its about to get even better.
1. In about 6 weeks, our entire city will be 100% fiber optic. 1 of only 4 cities in the country.
2. Right now, we are 50 to 60 miles from the beach, depending on which way you go. They are now planning to begin construction at some point in the near future on the main road, through the hills, to the beach. When they are done, we will be 17 miles from the beach.
Bling bling.
