Tonight I get out the mop LIVE at 9PM EST when my guest will be Twinkley from the Pillow Talk show. [Fridays at 3PM EST ynotradio.com]

Last week she was talking about the state of message boards and how theres a new batch of 5 popping up each week...where the trend is to be drunk, stoned and high and to be cool.

Just as I was getting her riled up about that topic along with the irresponsibility of AVN to the industry and how scammers prey on the newbies in this industry ...we ran outta time. So we will pick up where we left off.

Are webmaster resources being headed for an onslaught of subhumanoid meltdown? Come give us your viewpoint on this topic and more tonight at opranoradio.com .

Remember I am not stoned as of lately..... I am on a lung cleaning break....

But I do agree with what you are saying Gonzo... misinformation, and flat out lies are what is ruling the day now on the "message boards " or so it seems....

and the sad thing is that all the new ones do not try to change anything, they just try to mimmick the success of GFY and then bitch about it..

if someone wants something different, then they will have to be different ( oprano, Ynot, they seem to beat their own drum instead of try to follow) but for now it seems that drama and fake bullshit are winning.

Without GFY to act as a catch-basin, all those over-opinionated under-achieving fake-drama-having sig-whoring mongoloids would flood into boards like this one in droves. Although the mass bannings would be incredible to watch, maybe it's best if "the toilet" is left as is.

Another thought is that moneymaking is the bottom line for many, including old schoolers, and that board is obviously a moneymaker, toilet or not.

I think of GFY as the "WWF" of webmaster boards. In the wrestling world there are old school "real" wrestlers to plod along doing what they do in the "real, old school" way.... and then there are those who thrive on all the pomp and hype and psycho-circus drama and insanity of the WWF. It's the same in this business I suppose. It's all entertainment..... and if I don't like what I'm watching I simply change the channel.

to each their own... who cares?

Anyone here think GFY was needed to get where they are? or any clone of it

As it happens several months ago i wrote an article on the same topic but didnt mention GFY as the inspiration for it..

Resource Forums - The Changing Face Of The Adult Industry
Online adult webmaster resource sites are becoming a thing of the past instead, we have witnessed a new breed of resource site being birthed in the adult industry, the resource forum. It seems like almost every major adult sponsor and webmaster has their own resource forum as of the current time however, what is making these forums stand out from one another and, more importantly, can you actually learn anything valuable from them.

Webmaster Resource Forums.

Back in the day there were only a handful of resource forums made available for adult webmasters to educate themselves further, these included such sites as Ynot Masters, ******* (then The Condom Chronicles) and Porn Resource, however, to date there are no less than 200 webmaster resource forums floating around the internet for adult webmasters to post on.

With this amount of resource forums available to webmasters it seem impossible that many webmasters cant be making a profit however, upon closer inspection a disturbing trend seems to be taking place.

Resource Forums - Webmasters Posts.

With the sudden surge of webmaster resource forums in the last 6-12 months there is one thing that is apparent, most of, if not all of the resource forums to have spawned during this time have one thing in common, the webmasters who post on them, often, these webmasters are posting for a single reason, to get other webmasters to click on their signatures, nothing more, nothing less.

It would appear that the adult industry is heading towards a meltdown of the adult resource forums, with more and more webmasters grabbing free scripts such as phpbb to load onto their domain and launch their own resource forum it would appear at first glance as if the industry is a thriving community of webmasters all willingly helping each other out however, this is not the case, instead, we find post after post duplicated across multiple resource forums in the effort of making the longest thread, getting the most page views and, ultimately, getting the most signature clicks.

Webmaster Resources.

So with all of this going on what's happening to the actual resource sites? Well they are still around and, they are still being used however, these have now become second place to the message forum, often as mentioned above, webmasters will post the same message on several message boards and get several replies of exactly the same answer from exactly the same people. Whilst this in itself is a good thing (the exchange of information) my personal feelings are that we are heading towards an excess of resource forums and, whilst communication is needed, there also becomes a point at which you can get an information overload, new webmasters entering the adult industry will see the variety of forums made available to them and start posting however, in doing so they forget the one thing that they actually should be doing, working.

Webmaster Resource Forums - Overview.

I think within the next 12 months we are going to see one of two things start to happen, either the resource forum phenomenon will continue as it is doing now or, the resource forum will become a thing of the past whilst a new medium takes its place, one thing is certain though all these webmasters posting on forums to get sig views and post counts are not doing the one thing they should be, making money and, this becomes all to apparent after watching the same old posts, make the rounds to the same old forums time and time again.

Resource forums can be great help to the adult webmaster however, at the same time, they can also become a webmasters biggest downfall, remember why resource forums are there, to help you when you need it and to socialize when you have to, at what point to do you stop getting help and start becoming a post whore? Well only you can answer that question.

Owning our fair share of community forums ourselves this is something that we do feel strongly about especially, as most of the new boards that are launching seem to be lacking in the 'business' advice area. Thankfully, that type of community is the only type we want to run as a company and well, the amount of people we get visting our sites reading the information we and our community members provdes goes to show that business orientated communities do still have a place in the industry.

IMHO, and not talking about GFY, but the new crop ... Answer is pretty simple I think.

The growing list of industry failures need some place to congregate, slap each other on the back, and tell each other how f--king wonderful they all are.

Business boards keep getting smaller because fewer know how to do business successfully. Therefore, the opposite is also true.

Funny ....

I was thinking of you when I said the toilet had over ran. Your like the professor teaching recreational reading to jocks but youve come to the wrong classroom.

Dos Tip --- Having one domain registered in 1998 or 1996 doesnt always qualify you as "old skool".

Veronica and Archie always werent always in a comic book.

DrGuile

You should know me better than that!! Sheesh

I do not *shit* on anyone in this industry. <_<

I do have a problem with the fact that the norm in this industry seems to be one of these 2 things

1) Start a board and invite all your friends to be dumb and shit on everyone else. Make your board about nothing but "would you hit it" "how drunk/high/fuckedup/lonely miserable etc etc etc are you right now" threads.

2) Go to your friends board and pretend to be "Industry Royalty" and shit on everybody else.

I dont have a problem with GFY. In fact, I tend to applaud them for being the original in doing this. I agree (uhh somewhat, but not in the wording) with CDSmith in that GFY offering a one of a kind "go fuck yourself and FOAD" environment for webmasters who needed to let off steam.

My problem is with the 5 new boards that popup every week (see above criteria) that
dont seem to have a purpose other than to just be ...

Anyways, you can hear me rant tonight on the show.

Its obviously a money maker?! for who?!
the high turn over of sponsors and posters should give you some indication

I just love the assumption that if something is hyped, it must be making money

seriously, I just dont like the 'Holier Than Thou' attitude that the "older" webmaster often display regarding "new" things.

But eh, being the balanced individual that I am, I also hate the 'I know everything, but gimme gimmme gimme' attitude that the punks on the newer boards exhibit.

eh...

LOL, the longer I'm in this business, the less I really care what anyone else is doing, especially if they aren't doing it with me.

The problem is a lot of the people who aren't doing it with you are at least indirectly doing it TO you.

Though I will say of late, I personally have been avoiding spending time on anything that doesn't yield either traffic, money or fun....

If they are doing it on a message board, then I'm not too worried about it ;)
