Nick,
you are in a good company,
we are 14 hours out of cigarettes.

(my wife turned into a complete bitch, but...I am staying at least 20 yards away from her

Nick, need my address so you can send me all your booze so you're not tempted? I'm here to help :okthumb:

Seriously, I'm glad you're doing this - stick with it and come whining here if you feel like you want to take a drink. We are quite capable of shaming you out of it :)

Nick, you've made your first fatal mistake already!!!

'yeah, trying it again'

you are either giving it up or your not ... saying you are 'trying' is setting yourself up for failure & giving you an excuse before you even begin!!

what if you went to the doctor tomorrow and he told you every drink you have from now on will take a day off your life & 1 less day to spend with your kids? would you try to give up, or just ... give up without thinking?!

I gave up many things without thinking about it, not even sure how I did it, I just did & I kept off them because I feel better for it ... but with cigarettes I keep saying 'i want to quit smoking 1 day' and still, in my mind, I'm a smoker and I don't really want to quit yet ... and smoking is probably the worst thing for health overall, and yet I still light up 5 - 10 times per day ... because I just want to!

If its any help, when you are not drinking your real personality comes through & your personal strengths etc - last time you stopped drinking I remember thinking several times 'fuck he's brilliant when his mind is clear' ...

Good luck :okthumb:

7 days not smoking today for me...I'm not giving up drinking tho, cos a girl needs at least one vice.

If i'm not smoking...and i'm not having sex...alcohol will have to be it. ;)

Good for you tho Nick, hope you can keep it going!

An Irishman without liquor is like a Jew without money. Unthinkable. And pretty much impossible. :)

Wouldn't be a bad time to quit smoking, how much worse can it get?

KK,
quitting smoking for men has a side effect:
increased libido.
So far, and I am out of ciggies for 41 hours,
I haven't gained a single pound

I quit about 2 months ago (again) so far, only 4 pounds....

I still want a cigatette once in awhile, but they taste so awful - don't know what I ever saw in them:-)
