I really want to watch the debates, but I'm too into this Twins-Yankees game
I really want to see the Yankees get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs and watch George Steinbrenner have a coronary......

I'm rooting for he Braves and anyone playing the Yankees ;-)
although, I'd love to see the Astros go all the way so Biggio and Bagwell can get a little taste of post season victory......

I root for the Yankees and will not be at all surprised to see then eliminated.

The shot themselves in the ass the day Cashman started deciding the trades (as King Georges puppet) Up to the loss to the D Backs in the series Torre made the decisions on who they got.

One would think that the 80s would have taught George that he really does not know a hell of a lot about baseball.

it's more about smart spending though
The Mets had a high payroll and have continued to be a laughing stock...
The Twins are one of the lowest payrolls in baseball and in the playoffs again
The Oakland Athletics just missed the playoffs
The Florida Marlins won it all last year with a low payroll
The Braves cut their payroll and still made it this year
The Yankees have the highest payroll in baseball and are looking shaky with their suspect starting pitching
The Baltimore Orioles spent and spent but it didn't even earn them a .500 season
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays are one of the most poorly run teams in baseball besides the Expos, they are getting part of the luxury tax revenue and aren't exactly spending it on the field.
Same with the Pirates, they bring up these great players and then let them go without even really trying to retain them, acting more as a AAA team for the other teams in the league. The owner decides to cut and run instead of fielding a competant team on the field.
The Oakland Athletics have shown that a team can be run successfully on a budget, but the money needs to be spent wisely (*cough* Chan Ho Park and The Rangers *cough*)
