They wisely decided not to waste the first 5-6 episodes setting things up and getting the band back together for a change.

I started watching The Wire when it first came out but after 2 episodes never got into it. It's on Netflix though.

I think Merrill is too obvious and I don't think it's Ava

Even though he's in jail getting anally raped, I have a suspicion it could be Matt's friend (I forget his name) that was in the car with him when they ran over the girl and blinded her

I've also wondered if it might be the Jill Clayburg character, but that would seem a bit obvious, but would make sense (we can't know if she was legitimately sorry about lying about her bruising)

did anyone notice the mask and outfit that The Carver wears is simialr to the one the rapist wore in the Little House On The Prairie episode where Albert's girlfriend Sylvia gets raped and impregnanted by the serial rapist who turns out to be a teacher or something...and Albert was going to help her with the baby, but she ends up dying after falling off a ladder when the attacker comes back...

The first two seasons, and especially the first one, had a very tedious pace to set up all of the characters and how they are connected. It was so slow that I'm sure they lost more than a few viewers after only 2-3 weeks.

In both of the first two seasons, the first 6-7 episodes really dragged, but then really turns it up for the second half to tie up a ton of story lines quickly.

Very much worth watching, but it's not short attention span TV....
