umm, that's strange. oh well, it's going to be pretty damn close on the 30th.
0.0105 AU away
1 AU = 1 Astronomical Unit = 149,597,871 kilometers

maybe some smarty here can help us with the distance in layman terms :)

It came as close as 3000 km

I would say it passed through our atmosphere

Any info on how big it is ?

Found it 2.8 km diameter

Could have really messed stuff up for a big distance had it hit

It will pass at four times the distance between the Earth and the Moon, which is 1,500,000 kilometers or 937,500 miles.

Next close one of all the known asteroids are in 2060... thing is that we do not know about all asteroids out there

1 AU = distance from earth to the sun (avg) for those that might not remember...

0.01 AU is as Rolo said, a little over 4x distance from earth to the moon.
