Humans have always been fascinated with destruction and death... and just like porn, the more you watch of it, the more you tolerate :(

I just don't get how this works:

You'd think they would want a break from the reality of what they are living...

Depends on who filmed it.

Trust me I am not for defending copyright protection for a bunch of terrorists - but the majority of the content on CJ is stolen. From what I understand they are in a big lawsuit over the very issue. If they lose, they will not be around long.
