Here's the trailer site (http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/friday_night_lights/)

Just wondering... does anyone have any background on it?
Supposedly based on true events?

The trailer looks good.

I think its based on the book by the same name. It is about high school football in Texas. I have cousins who played football in Texas, they would have 30-35,000 people come watch the games. That is more than many college teams.

Looks like a good movie!

yes they just came out with the tenth anniversary edition. ESPN ranks it as the top football bok ever written, and in the top 5 sports novels. Ive read it about 3 times. just an excellent read

Wow. This I did not know.
So now I'm really going to have to go see it.

I just imagine all the incredible hockey stories there must be out there, but there simply isn't a big enough market to tell those stories.

I like Miracle, especially when they showed the real game and players and showed how close they got to mirroring it all :)

I didn't see Miracle yet. I'm sure it was good though. What a great opportunity for Hollywood to romanticize that particular story. I'm not taking anything away from it mind you. It was a nice win for the US team.

But if you consider some of the Canadian or Russian hockey championship stories, it kinda pales in comparision. I guess the big thing with Miracle was that the US team shouldn't have won when looking at the talent pool from the other countries but they put their hearts into it and did it.

I would love to see a movie made about the 1972 Canada/Russia Summit series.
