The Glengarry Glenross cast did rock, in a GREAT movie, as did Heat.

Thin Red Line cast was impressive, but that movie like lost me. Just goes to show that a cast alone does not a movie make.

Way back when in the days when huge casts were more financially obtainable, remember tha classic war tomes, like "The Longest Day", "The Great Escape" and "Von Ryan's Express", or even "The Dirty Dozen" ?

TOO many to even begin to list.

I think those days will be hard to ever replicate on the same scale.

There is one with Telly Savalas and Ernest Boignine (sp?) I've seen on late night TV and got caught up watching the whole thing too many times :) Might be the dirty dozen I think.. Not sure what it is about american ww2 movies but I like them... the old midday movie westerns got me in too.. I must be an angry young fightin' man underneath this soft exterior! :P

If we can count cameos by dead people as being in the cast.. Dead Men Dont Wear Plaid should get a mention too.

*edit: Guns of Navarone might be the one I was thinking of ;-)

Yeah but EVERYONE wants to be in a Robert Altmann flic, and they ALL do it for nothing.

And I don't think in the context of this thread EVERYONE of real note appearing only have small cameos really is in the same zip code.

Opti, you got far too much time on your hands dude, but you proved my point...

What would THAT cast have cost to assemble at today's prices?

Oceans 11 (the remake) also had a REASONABLE cast of MODERN top liners, but hardly in the same class as the others getting guernseys in this thread.

I think "The Great Escape" and "A Bridge Too Far" have to get the nod for the depth on international stars - US, British and European.

Just my 2c

Yeah, I agree that the movie is maybe a 3/5 to me. And most of the individuals are in the movie for about 5 minutes. But, still great group as a whole.
