i have no respect for Cryami fans. I went to the fiesta bowl. Miami fans didnt bother showing up. There were maybe 3K there. nice fan base.

Those OU crowds always look nuts.

Some crowds just stand out when you watch the games on TV. OU is one of them.

I guess when you only play for one national championship every few decades they seem more important ;-) ;-)

Well, obviously one should look at the demographics. What creates fans who "act differently"? The drinking water? Geography? The weather?

Get real. UM is a small, private school in a city where only 20% of the population is white. There is real competition for the fan base from the NFL. Don't even mention the Bengals. There were more people at Internext Miami last month than @ any Bengals game last year. Sure, white folk in Ohio will happily travel to Arizona for a vacation from the frozen tundra. Miami's largely Cuban fan base don't do the desert. Nor do they do jackets. My guess is many of them live in the hood. I mean, have you been to the Orange Bowl? Meni's been there. Ask Meni (http://www.askmeni.com). You can almost smell the crack there. It's more impressive to me that some guy living in a Little Havana hovel will spend $50 to go to a football game than that some middle class Ohio urbanite will travel to Arizona for a break from the ice and snow. "Small", yeah. OSU has 50,000 students and Miami has 13,000.

But, you'd be right to say that Miami fans are largely fair-weather fans. Nearly everyone was disappointed last year with finishing #5. Finishing #2 is a great disappointment here. Maybe it comes with winning 25% of the past 20 national championships. A season at #2 is a failure of a season.

Or maybe you can explain it better to me, Grimm. What are the causes of OSU fans travelling to AZ and not UM fans?
