So I haven't been around much lately. Been too busy dodging hurricanes. So I check out Gallup and what do I see? George Bush is up by 7% over Kerry among likely voters.

All I got to say is George Bush is an underrated politician. Dems have been counting him dead but he continues to gain. As soon as campaign season came Karl Rove kicked it into high gear. What's the Kerry campaign doing anyway? Someone should be fired and I know Democrats must agree with me on that. Who's running this campaign? It sure as hell isn't James Carville.

And Bush has taken the lead in the electoral count poll at Rasmussen?

Wow.

It seems as though Kerry got no push from DNConvention while Bush certainly did get a push. I think when it comes down to it people that are uncertain will always take the path they know (certainty) even if they don't like that path.

I read they are changing out the staff and bringing in a bunch of Clintonites....

Carville has been on the attack.

Kerry thought he could just toss his helmet on the field and walk all over Bush since Bush has such high negatives.

People are finding out that it takes more then "vote for me because I am not Bush" to win a Presidential election.

Bush does well because he is underrated. Same with debates - pundits will set the bar so low, that when BUsh does decent it makes it look even better.

Rove is the genuis - best GOP guy since Lee Atwater!

That's how I ended up married. Damned 90's.

Mike,

The Kerry campaign this year reminds me of the Bush campaign in 1992. They just seem like they are content to drift around on a raft hoping it ends up on the shore. Someone over there needs to row.

Colin, I think the Kerry campaign handled the RNC period quite well. I suspect they will play comparatively quiet until after Sept 11th, which will be a "good day" for Bush. I think after that, you will see them pushing harder and coming forward with stuff.

It will be interesting to see if any IDEAS make it into the campaign, or if this is going to be nothing but negative name calling and 30 year old record comparisions.

Alex, what kind of IDEAS?

I take a different approach. After a few months of the campaign my conclusion is that Kerry is not connecting with people emotionally. I hear a smart guy who people don't "get". He's Gore Redux. He's boring. Bush has the opposite problem.

I swear. Bush has the lead and he's playing handicapped. Kerry would be up by 10% if they compared IQs. They don't. The "Rove campaign" has brilliantly convinced everyone that Kerry "flip flops". Bush by 7.

Kerry better get his backup QB in there. They're going to need to go for 2 too.

Yeah Old Man Bush just layed back, figured everyone would vote for him....

He did not campaign at all.

I am not a fan of the old man - at least politically.

I always liked Bush I. He was certainly not a great politician but he was a great American. A life of service to the good ol' US of A. :salute:

Totally agree with you. Bush didn't campaign. It's not his style. He's the kind of guy who would think "if they want me, they'll vote for me". Know what? I dig him for that.
