The Intercostal has big waves in it like you would see on the beach and my electric keeps on going out each time the trees hit the lines, but really I've seen mush worse doing a normal bad storm. The storm isn't even bad enough to knock out my satellite so I'm just watching TV very bored. I only put up my storm shutters on my patio and big front window, hopefully I will not regret this as the storm moves inland.

It sucks that everything is closed. I bought Final Cut Pro and wanted to buy some 3rd party books to help learn it but everything is closed. I called my gym to see if maybe they were open but I got their voice mail. Guess I'll get a good workout cleaning up the big mess.

Nothing to do but smoke weed and build porn sites. LOL

I live on the intercoastal in Miami and nothing is really happening here. A few wind gusts, but I don't see any trees down or flooding.

Thanks for the updates
If you can please keep them coming
While we may piss, joke and smoke with each other from time to time

I'm sure I can safely speak for everyone when I say we hope you all stay safe and weather the storm as best as possible

If there's anything anyone can do here please ask

Hope everyone stays safe!!!! It doesn't SEEM to be STRONG winds that will cause the problem, just consistent winds and lots of rain :( They are even forcasting 6-8 inches in 24 hour the first of the week for us up here.

I've still got power and internet and TV here. All good so far .... some small trees down across the street, one of mine is leaning - it will probably go in the coming hours .. we're just seeing the beginning of this so far.

I'm off to go hibernate in the wine cellar and open a few bottles of Serge's 'private stock' to ride out the storm hehehe :rokk:

I'm glad to see that everyone reporting in is still safe. I've been watching continual coverage out of Miami over the internet:
http://www.cbs4.com
They've got reporters all up and down the coast and are doing better reporting than the Weather Channel. Plus it's 24/7, whereas the weather channel packs up and hunkers down once it gets dark or hits midnight.

Stay safe everyone! Still have a LOT of hours to go before this thing is over and a lot of wind to deal with - don't take any chances just to get some pics.

Jonas cool pics - the palm trees are all pointing sideways ;/

those satellite pics are cool - in the 2nd one you can see the ridge shape raised in the eye

cleo, it looks like you got away without too much damage there? you have a lot of much bigger trees that could have made your house into a duplex! ;-(

It looks like I have to brave the elements and haul my ass down there in the next few days. Folks live in Vero Beach, and its getting pounded pretty hard. They'll need help putting the pieces back togetheher and cleaning up the debris..... fortunately, they got out in time , and are safely in North Carolina. I'll be driving down there with supplies and a generator, and making the trip from there to Vero with them....

Good luck on the Gulf Coast, sharky and mike.... hopfully the winds will peter out some before it gets to you guys...

POUNDED

LOL, no hurricane will kill my sick sense of humor. Had new niche ideas like crazy being all cooped up. I could kill for a cheezeburger right now. MEAT. CHEEZE! mmm.....

Neighborhood is trashed. Couple cars are now low riders with trees on top of them. The biggest trees are down. the smaller ones seems to do ok. Fukkin cerfews in effect. They are asking people to be patient but banned alcohol sales...WTF? Arresting people out after 8pm. Nuts

My power came on at about 5 am today. I must have left every light on in my house and the stereo on really loud. I didn't even need coffee to be awake for the rest of the day.

I'm going to arrange to have the tree removed from my bedroom's roof tomorrow. I'm thinking of having the rest of my trees trimmed way back at the same time, but I don't want to trim them too much as I really enjoy the way they shade my house, but I also don't want another one going through my roof if this other hurricane also hits us.

Both my insurance companies and Fema told me to take lots of pics, start on repairs, get receipts, and they would reimburse me which kind of makes me wonder if they really will. I'm thinking of just letting the bedroom rot until at least one insurance adjuster shows up, but it does smell really bad even with the door closed, but I do need to get the tree off my house.

Since I moved into a much smaller bedroom with a much smaller closet I decided to try on every piece of clothing that I had and every pair of shoes that I own. I had stuff going back over 20 years. I didn't fit into any of my disco clothes anymore which was no surprise as I don't do drugs any more. I did find lots of long forgotten stuff that I did fit into again and I threw away most of my fat clothes as I don't plan on every stopping going to the gym again. I threw away 8 large yard bags of clothes and gave a bunch of linen to Luna. I'll probably give her my couches and stuff once I start remodeling. Today when I finally got around to getting dressed I couldn't find anything and with all of the found stuff it was like going shopping going through my closet.

Funny… I feel excited, it's like this hurricane renewed my life. I haven't felt this positive in a long time.

Update from Boca......

Power is back on from Serge's house north.

Some down trees but nothing major.

Beaches are fine - some decent waves yesterday.

I'm personally still without power - 9 out of 10 people still are.

Fortunately cell phone came back Monday and the office has power and ac... I will be hanging out there from now or at least until my power comes back up.

I have to tell you that 4 days without power totally sucks- I'm sooo tired of baloney sandwiches. I want some hot food!!! Hell I would be happy with something from the Microwave!!!

Thanks Serge! Wooohhhoooo PPPAAARRRTTTAAAAYYy! :)

Good news, power was back on by the time I got home. After 3 days in that heat, I promptly fired up the hair clippers and shaved my head. The world is a cooler place now!

Now I must work on getting a tan on my head before Ivan strikes.

Guess I should just leave the tree on in my roof until after Ivan finishes doing this year's hurricane house remodeling.

I think I'm going to go over to Sports Authority and buy a few of these today along with lots of batteries.

I just stopped by to see how everyone fared the storm. I’m happy to see that Serge & LL are ok. MikeW I wondered about you and I also hope that Doug made it ok. Isn’t he in Lake Worth?

I’m just west of Lake Okeechobee. I did decide to evacuate because I honestly thought it was going right through the lake here. I packed up my cargo van with 4 dogs, 2 cats, 5 bunnies and 2 birds. We released the chickens, set the horses out to pasture along with the goats. We figured they’d be better off loose rather then in pens and everyone could graze. I worried the whole time. This whole hurricane business has me completely stressed out.

We lost power but no serious damage. The animals are fine.

So far it looks like Ivan is coming directly over my house. It’s scary.

Florida is going to be really effected by all this for a long time. It’s sad to think that so much money went to Iraq when it’s so desperately needed here at home.

I’ll check back. I just wanted to see how everyone was and hope that you’re ok after the next one. I knew I should have just moved to Panama! Lol
