I do not think the storm is life threatening..... I am more concerned with extended period of no power and such.

I will ride out storm here, but the escalade has a full tank of gas if I have to move on.

Lol, that's what, 45 gallons that will take you about 34 miles?

Glad I got a reprieve, even if I was walking out the door to the airport last night.

My dad said he will remain in the Tampa area as well. He didn't seem to think there all that many options really.

I'm going to wait and see what the track says at 11 tonight and 5am tomorrow b efore I make my decision. I can always head up to my in laws in the middle of nowhere Tenn..

I think we'll be fine here, but I don't want to deal with no power for an extended period of time. Heck, we lose power cause of lightning here.,. how will we cope with a hurricane!

Yeah this is my concern as well - extended loss of power.

If this happens, I will head somewhere.....

Thanks for the offer.

We would probably head to New Orleans - or Naples to hang with Noah.

This bitch is slowing down....that's not really a good thing.

Gonna produce high tides, rain and high winds for probably an entire day instead of just moving on thru.

Buy yourself a weeks worth of colo space in one of the local data centers....get a cage just big enough for a recliner, TV, cooler and a notebook. They should be able to maintain power and internet...

My brother's in laws are on the St. Johns in Palatka. They were here and planning on staying the weekend but went home (she's an insurance adjuster and besides being swamped with work from Charley, she will be swamped even more in the next few weeks) and are expecting floods from the river :(

They have also boarded up the parent's house in Orange Park and hoping for the best.

Times like this remind me why I bought a house in the mountains and rent at the beach instead of vice versa.

Hope and best wishes to everyone in the storm's path that everybody stays safe and comes out of this with little or no problems.

what's the latest? this is going to be awful not knowing that everyone is ok until they get to a power source.

thank god for the internet, this hasn't even made it on tv news here yet

we just had a mini storm with thunder and lightning with heavy winds for about 5 minutes. was watching it thinking how many of our oprano family live in the few states that are in its path and hoping like hell that by some miracle it misses you all.

awaiting any and all news

It's slowed down...that's good news and bad news.

Good news is it is now down to a Category 2 hurricane as it crosses cooler water...it was a category 4 a couple of days ago.

Bad news is that means it's gonna move in slowly and sit out there and beat the hell out of the coast line and likely dump out 15-20 inches of rain and cause flooding as it moves across florida.
