LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Judging from the recent success of "Alien vs. Predator," crossover franchise films make for good box office.
That's probably why New Line Cinema has already been mulling a sequel to 2003's hit film, "Freddy vs. Jason," to be titled "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The proposed face-off will reunite horror stars Freddy Krueger of "Nightmare and Elm Street" fame and Jason Voorhees, the hockey-masked fiend from the "Friday the 13th Films," to take on a new foe. Ash is the wisecracking anti-hero portrayed by Bruce Campbell in director Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" films, which also includes "Army of Darkness."

The cynical Ash is best known for his pithy one-liners, chainsaw-tipped arm and his "boomstick," a 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. If the deal goes through, Campbell will reprise his role.

"Freddy vs. Jason" earned nearly $82.2 million in the U.S. in 2003.

Campbell, 46, currently appears in Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" as a snooty usher. He next stars in the upcoming horror flick "The Woods," which will be released in October.

They've been talking about this for awhile now

I wouldn't mind it as long as Ronny Yu is back to direct. He did an amazing job with "Freddy Vs. Jason" and I loved the work he did on "Bride Of Chucky"

Bruce Campbell needs to milk Ash a little more before he starts getting too old to do his own stunts.

This would add another chapter to the Freddy and Jason sagas and give Sam Raimi an excuse to ignore fanboy pleading for an Evil Dead 4 ;-)

You gotta be kidding right? Freddy and Jason are homocidical maniacs from long established horror movies. Where does Ash fit in? What about Freddy vs Jason vs Mike Myers from Haloween, wouldnt that make more sense?

Personally, id rather see evil dead 4 and not bother seeing any of the blah blah vs blah blah movies at all.

but Ash is a timetraveling ass kicker

hmmm, maybe him and Reggie from the "Phantasm" movies can get together and kick some slasher ass?

Michael Myers is probably still in hiding (from embarassment) after getting his ass kicked by Busta Rhymes...
