View Full Version : The Miami Show

the 4 days at Internext have changed my opinion of the state of the industry somewhat

First day of the show I saw more professionals than in the past (in the past the professionals were the outsiders trying to get in or there on a crazy mission - they didn't have a clue)

Now the industry is becoming more professional, being ran by professionals in a business oriented environment

What's going to make the industry go through the rest of the pain to become more profitable?

Government regulation and intervention are one thing. I know many say the US government will only effect American companies but the US government regulations may have further reach than just the US.

I don't know about you but still the majority of the business I do is with American consumers. SMS billing exists but America is far behind on it and for now it can be seen as a micro payment structure

Spent some time with the "young lions" in the business. Interesting guys, interesting outlook. They've heard of the golden age but accept and try to thrive with what's on the table now. Changing to meet the demands of a rapidly changing marketplace.

Yes the industry still has a way to go and there's going to be some pain but finally I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

I enjoyed meeting you Vick. Being my first show I can say by listening and watching I learned quite a bit.

NickPapageorgio it was a pleasure meeting you and spending a little time with you
The pics of you and Sharky having a stare down are hilarious

Something else ....
I'll have to research it some more to be certain but from the looks of it seems some of the older companies that came into the business early on (in some cases from Audiotext) seems to be changing in the amount of market share and perhaps profitability
Some of the companies that came a little later or were started a little later look to be picking up more market share and increasing profitability

Years back I said we were fighting for growth and one day we would be fighting for market share

The pie looks to be adjusting

I need to go look for new users to the Internet by country/year but I'd think the American market (where we sell the majority of porn) .........

Vick for the most part i would have to agree with you however, also for the most part the REAL business gets done behind the scenes in private suites and at private dinners.

Lee

Vick, I found the same thing at the San Diego show...I'm glad to see it continued on in Florida....if the trend continues, then I'm looking forward to Vegas even more than I already am....

An interesting aside: I talked to some audiotext people at the show (some of you oldsters like me might remember IA2000 was an audiotext show in the beginning). One of the oldest audiotext companies and one of the biggest sponsors of pre-internet IA2000, AVN has gone under. IIRC, they even had a small booth as recently as Vegas 2004.

A perfect example of becoming a dinosaur if you don't understand change!

Nah, he didn't need it. Considering he's one of AEBN's top front guys, everyone was comping him left and right.

I was Silent Bob most of the weekend. LOL
