View Full Version : So did you miss anything

This being my first Internext sit-out in YEARS I'm sitting here thinking - shit, I didn't really miss a thing. I'd been convinced so long that it was a must-attend affair... see and be seen... that kind of thing. It was actually kind of nice sitting one out (literally, I'm still on crutches - lol).

I think about the only thing I really missed was seeing folks that I usually only get to see a few times a year, hanging out with colleages that I never ever get to see enough of - and maybe some of those tropical drinks out by the pool.

For the rest of it - I've got pics and reports from folks on the board, calls from friends - oh and my family thanking me for not flying into the midst of 2 hurricaines (my mother has called me like a dozen times.. "I'm so glad you didn't go!" - lol)...

Anyway - just wondering how everyone else who didn't go feels. Do you feel like you missed anything? Are you glad you stayed home? Or do the CNN reports and pics posted of sweaty folks getting thrown out of the hotel make you happy you sat this one out?

Inquiring minds want to know! :yowsa:

My Last Internext was 18 months ago, in Vegas...I was getting married and couldn't needed ScottPB for a witness, and Internext was perfect for the ocassion.....
I think it's a good omen to coinside LAST Marriage with LAST Internext
;-)))

I've seen most people I wanted to see {from those who attended} at my house,
I don't feel missing anything at all....
;-))))

I didn't really miss anything..a couple of us locals who stayed home got together for lunch the other day. For some reason I seem to be doing moe business concentrating on the guys who live here and getting together with them for lunch, dinner, beers, etc.

Our local gatherings have grown to a handful of people getting together for lunch to a dinner that brought out 25 people and a couple others who couldn't make it due to prveious engagements. Our next gathering will have a turnout of probably 30-35 people and really, how many more do I need to buusiness with that I'm not already?

We don't have sponsors, floors or anything like that. Everyone pays for their own dinner, we head over somewhere to grab some beers and shoot pool...so much more relaxing that way (although we might have a couple of the ARS guys sneak MarcDe's credit card over one night ;-))

I also prefer the smaller shows. I did more business as a result of the San Diego show than I've ever done at InterNext.

First Internext I didn't attend since I started in this market, and really feel like I did not miss a thing. It is nice to see friends of course but once a year is better than nothing and I prefer Vegas over Florida any day. It was nicer and more profitable to sit this one out and concentrate on the work at hand IMHO.

BTW Kath, never got your email hon :( Please send it to bestat at exclusivecontent.com and put "This is kath DO NO delete" in the header.

Tell the big lug I said Hi and GO BRONCO'S!!!

You missed seeing wsieman spending 30k to get out of jail.

Keep your eyes and ears open....we've been stirring shit concerning vegas so loud that it klixxx.

What you missed was witnessing the industry turn a corner for a new direction. Your going to see new alliances ans those that are left down to serious business.

You also missed seeing how it takes 10 sponsors tp throw a party at a club that allows the public in...how a vip pass means nothing...how limos are really shuttle buses.

Thr reeal business was done at private affairs ans with family. You missed the birth of another oprano/ffn vigilante marketing stunt.

Now more than ever its time to take back the business and trade shows.

I don't feel like I missed out on business, but for me it was always more like a vacation than work - and I can't lie, even to make myself feel better ... I really miss catching up with people.

I don't care about Internext, but missing an Oprano convention dinner is like not seeing your family at christmas time.

This show was particularly disappointing for me to miss, as it was my official 2 year anniversary since the last show I attended ... but the photos always keep me going until the next show comes around :agrin:

Oh and missing a certain someone getting escorted from the building was also disappointing :biglaugh:

That sounds the same as any convention. Ditto that the real deals are done in private.

Sounds like the scuffle and arrest ... and the belly flop ... were the highlights of the public show.

And of course the gettogethers with good friends and new and old biz partners is always the highlight of any show.

would have been the only reason for me to go to Fl

This is my first show in 2.5 years and one of the best shows I attended

Met a lot of people, saw a lot of old friends. Had a lot of great dinners and lunches

Had a lot of quality time and conversations - not all about business

The business is changing quickly, it helps to be here first hand

This show seemed to have more professionals attending than the old shows

Keep your eyes on Vegas, it might be a little different than in the past as the business changes

Plus I really got engerized by some of the conversations at this show

I'm from the Serge school of shows, hang in the lobby. Sooner or later everyone comes by

Edit to ad - I only attended one function/party - the belly flop. Maybe that helped it be a good show

Correction. Your missing mike ai's friends and family kickass party ar scarlett's. Peter north is here and he says to tell you that your missing the best paty of the show and......
"Ya gotta eat more to score!"

Mike ai outclassed parties with 10 sponsors by keeping it simple and classy. It 3am and the place is slammed and the show is over.

Will drop you a note today hon - good to see you here again! B)

OK... you've caught my attention! :yowsa:

Catch up with me on IM later in the week when you recover... lol

YES - was thinking... the belly flop contest would have been something to see - and friends... but now that I see many of the "old guard" stayed @ home anyway, I'm not even feeling like that was anything to miss.

I'm with you CJ - I think I'm going to have a totally different perspective of these "events" in the future... really looking forward to Vegas already. :rokk:

Through the years I've realized I don't ever do any REAL business at the "theme parties". Therefore, I no longer attend them unless they have something that I would personally be interested in. The Belly Flop was the only one this year though I had planned on at least taking a peek at Cirque de Noooooooir but wasn't feeling great :(

The dinners, lunches and most importantly THE LOBBY in FL always works best for me :)

I think we should have a Belly Flop contest in Vegas and watch everyone complain about shrinkage. :nyanya:
