even if it does go through, it'll still be several years before they start dumping...

the nice thing about liing in las vegas:
you can order from Pizza Hut online and you can buy groceries from Albertson's online and they'll even deliver it in a refrigerated truck...

hell with it, let the drivers ber the heat ;-)

Can't you stay in one spot long enough, TE?

... Or do they find out about you and force you to leave? :P

Inquiring minds want to know!

just move out to where I'm at...it's always a couple degrees hotter, but only a short drive to the lake for some heavy duty boating.....

actually, I was talking to a couple of the Vegas guys about grabbing a pontoon one of these upcoming weekends, renting a couple jetskis and hang out on Lake Mead for the weekend

What's the humidity to go along with that temp?

in the city, only about 10-15%, out here near the lake it's 15-20%
that whole dry heat people talk about...

I will take 115 with a humidity of 15 way before I'll take 95 with a humidity of 75.

the mailbox is across the street....
I need to start hiring someone to do that

I forgot to call the yard guy today, so my wife made me mow the lawn this evening at 7:30...since it cooled off...to 106 degrees! At least I got rewarded with a big ass glass of iced tea.....but it'll teach me to forget to call the yard guy....

EDIT - Lake Las Vegas is gorgeous, but unfortunately, I'm about 5 miles up the road from it...

someday though......

On the Vegas side I take it? Are you up on that hill you see to the left on the drive out there?

SykkBoy
08-12-2004, 02:09 AM
yeah, on the Vegas side
we're just before the hill...just before the horse properties and a bit after the "old" Henderson....

The funny thing about the desert is - you get used to it. Really, you do. It usually hits about 115-120 during the summer where we are (east of Palm Springs, CA) and I know I bitch about it constantly, but it's only about 3 months out of the year. The rest of the time, it's perfect. The first year we moved here it broke records and hit 130 - beating out Death Valley for the first time *ever* for hottest temp in the US desert. Talk about a rude awakening!

Lately the temp hasn't been too high (100-110) but the humidity has jumped (47% and 93 degrees already at 8:26 in the morning), prompting news guys to start crying El Nino again already.

My kids & hubby went to a Dodger game in LA last weekend - they brought sweatshirts because it was supposed to be in the 70's - 80's that afternoon/evening. Funny thing is - they WORE them. lol How sad is that? And LA folk were complaining about a heat wave because it climbed to 90-something around noon that day.

However this: http://www.cnn.com/2004/WEATHER/08/12/storms/index.html worries me... I hope everyone has a safe trip in and out of Florida. Guess I'm glad my bum knee kept me off a plane this time around... ya'll be careful out there!
