A good friend of mine asked me to post this on a few webmaster boards to test his idea and script out for cell phones
here is what he wrote to me
I need some help testing a script. I am trying to make a site for mobile devices. The trick is to be able to identify the user agent send by the requester and from it determine the device screen size so that the correct size pics can be sent. There are hundreds of devices so it is no easy task, but not impossible.

If you have a mobile device with a wireless web conection your help would be greatly appreciated. Please go to www.celluporn.com/test.php and report your results.

If you get a "Could not find + your user agent string", please report your user agent string and device.

If you get the desired result you will be at a screen that lists sites. Navigate through to the pics. Please report if the pics were sized to your device and if you had to scroll to view the entire pic.

Any other reported errors would be helpful.

Thank you for your help.

If it doesnt work, or if it works like magic please let me know here, I will relay the info to him thanks all

Thanks Gonz, did you get a user agent string returned, or just nothing?

I tried but my phone network won't let me view anything that's not a part of their 'content they get a royalty for' so I can't test it unfortunately ;-(

But I want to know more about this site!! Is celluporn already a live functioning site?

I love mobile internet :groucho:

I get a simple "Page cannot be displayed" from T-mobile using a Motorola V600.

Not sure what's up with that because, like GonZo, with my plan I can generally hit any URL on the net, it's just a question of how ugly is it going to look if it's not formatted for wireless.

Not yet CJ, he is in the development stage. thats why he needs to test it. But he has some pretty high hopes for it and has spent a lot of time on it

Thanks Hellpuppy! This is going to help him a lot I am sure. The problem he is facing is that there are so many different standards for mobile devices that he has to code for, it has been a challenge to get them all. He is in the process of fine tuning the script so that it will detect your device and screen size and generate an image instantly that will fit your screen (this script will also turn a landscaped image so that you will be able to view it larger by turning your mobile device)
I really think he is ahead of the curve on this idea :)

So what you are looking to do is write a script where if a user hits that website from their mobile phone, it will detect what phone they are using and only show them the correct photos for their phone?

Ive been dealing alot lately with more mainstream mobile sites, my question is how do you plan on handling billing with a 100% mobile based adult site system. From our experience, people dont like entering their credit card over their mobile phone, and although Premium SMS works a treat in the UK and Australia, anything bar a 1900 number dosent seem to be very effective in the States or elsewhere. There is a service that is 'recurring' billing, where you get the user to send a keyword to a premium sms number, but we still have to look into that.

Id love to talk to your mate a bit more as we have some experience in this area and are looking to expand, hit me up on ICQ: 41724219

Thanks Yug, he will be adding you to his ICQ very soon.

spaz, you don't have to wait for a product to be perfect and in use before you patent the idea ... just look at acacia  LOL

Yug, premium rate sms was due in the usa in July ... just waiting for the telco's to catch up & offer the service & we're away. :okthumb:

Have you had much experience using Premium SMS services here in OZ?

We were going to buy our own number, but for a few hundred bucks you can go off the back of someone eles who has a number, and just signup for a few specific 'code words'. Definately fascinating stuff, practically untouched by the adult industry too.

I wouldn't bother with your own number yet - not worth it yet IMO. We are piggybacking for the uk using keywords & can bill up to X rated - but I was under the impression that Oz only allows M & R rated content ... We were only going to do Oz for our celeb but new rules and opportunities happen every day so at the moment, options are wide open.
