Content guys prepare for an onslaught of new Boobies courtesy of you good ole uncle.

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The U.S. Army has long lured recruits with the slogan "Be All You Can Be," but now soldiers and their families can receive plastic surgery, including breast enlargements, on the taxpayers' dime.

The New Yorker magazine reports in its July 26th edition that members of all four branches of the U.S. military can get face-lifts, breast enlargements, liposuction and nose jobs for free -- something the military says helps surgeons practice their skills.

"Anyone wearing a uniform is eligible," Dr. Bob Lyons, chief of plastic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio told the magazine, which said soldiers needed the approval of their commanding officers to get the time off.

Between 2000 and 2003, military doctors performed 496 breast enlargements and 1,361 liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents, the magazine said.

The magazine quoted an Army spokeswoman as saying, "the surgeons have to have someone to practice on."

Goodness. This is now the 4th or 5th board I've seen this on (and the rest were non-porn boards, lol!)

1. This has been going on for years and years and years.
2. The military doesn't pay for anything, ergo it's not "the taxpayer's dime". The doctors make the same amount of money no matter how many operations they perform and the patients have to buy their own implants, pay for the food they eat while in the hospital, and anything else that's "extra".
3. Implant surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery IS needed in the military and they really DO need the experience.
4. The people wanting these elective surgeries have to fill out about a jillion forms AND wait until there's space AND might get bumped off at any time up until the surgery if something else comes up.

Another case of journalistic sensationalism that doesn't quite tell the whole story :awinky:

Thats exactly right, Peaches!

My oldest friend just recently 'retired' from the Army, where he served 25 years as a Doctor... he was paid by rank, not by patient, or service performed....

Course.. he DID stay 5 years in Hawaii! LOL

Those who put themselves on the line should get a ton more benefits then they are now.

Combat pay should be higher, benefits to familys left behind should be more, and if a soldier dies in combat his children should have free college tuition (if they meet minimum standards) at public universities.

I would even be happy to have my taxs raised for this.

I always thought it was weird when hub was in the hospital back @ Ft. Sill and they took the meal credit out of his paycheck AND he had to pay for his food while he was in the hospital... they totally double-dipped him. And on E2 salary that's a BIG deal. lol

Yeah, I think it's funny when the media goes on and on about all that the taxpayers get stuck paying for with our military when they will go on and on without stop about how we need to be paying MORE for welfare, free medical care to illegal aliens, etc. etc...

What a screwed up world. Good on ya Peaches for setting the record straight...
