I am SO happy to finally announce the arrival of our newest son, Richard Alexander... we're calling him Alex. He weighed 7lbs, 8.4oz and was 19 3/4" long.

He was born at 3:26am on Monday, July 19th at home, in our tub, into his daddy's waiting hands. He was born "in the caul" (for those of you who know what that means) and Kelsey, our 6yr old, was watching and helping as much as he could. (Mostly telling me how good I was doing, lol... what a sweetie.)

No drugs, no midwife, Mike and I did it all on our own unassisted. Boy, it was HARD, but it was worth every minute. He ended up coming out in just two unhurried pushes (he actually paused with his head halfway out, like Killroy, for about 45 seconds before the second push).

We don't have any decent non-blurry pictures yet but as soon as we do I'll post a couple. The boys are absolutely enamored with their little brother and Mike and I are doing our best to remember how to handle the first few days of having a newborn at home! :)

When my girlfriend and i finally get married and have kids, she says she definitley wants to have a homebirth, but wants a midwife there, which i agree with. I'd be too scared to do something like that without one! But damn, i've read some horror stories about hospital births. That's seriously a no go unless their are complications during the pregnancy.

Anyways, congratulations!

Maybe she made that suggestion as a last ditch effort to keep you from continually knocking her up. :nyanya:

I thought that would be a good idea too but the doctor wouldn't go for it - lol

After two I said, "Hey while you're in there, sew things up so we don't have to do this again."

Like hub says, "We figured out what caused it and stopped doing it." :biglaugh:

...still, now that mine are both teenagers, I think about a little baby... and then slap myself silly and realize that grandparenting is just around the corner... hopefully 10 years around the corner, but it will be fun to spoil them rotten and then send 'em home! :awinky:

Thanks so much everyone! I am going to make it a point in the morning to get some good pics. Picture a wrinkly little old man and you've pretty much got it, though. ;)

No pocket aces, thank goodness... the paper cut down there would've been worse than the tear! (I have 1 stitch on my inner labia... *sniffle pout*)

LOL@ epidural before getting to the hospital; I had one of those with my first and it was niiiiiiiiiice... well other than not being able to move the lower half of my body :awinky:
