Meni you need a new line, and you should try to get out some.

I spent the day washing my cars, swimming in the pool, had lunch at the mall to scope out chicks, and now catching up on a little work.

Try it sometime.

meni washes the tinfoil hat on the weekend!

I enjoyed a movie out (anchorman, not bad for a blockbuster comedy) and lunch with my girlfriend alfresco, will probably go to the beach around 9.

It's worth seeing, depends if you spew when you see cheaseball stuff. This has pleanty of cheeseball, but is pretty funny. Not much else on the lineup to see anyway. You'll recognize alot of stars in the movie, and alot of low-key up and commer stars. Made me laugh, but our theatre sells booze though, so ya never know :D

He reads the board well
And figures trashing you is
A good way to seem like one

It is in the nature of
Colored girls to go

The tin foil lobby probably should have
Paid more money to the Bush campaign.
The duct tape lobby did, and
Got an endorsement from Tom Ridge hizownself.

Rumors that there is a Haleburton connection

Joe,

That is PATHETIC on so many levels mate....

Level #1
It's SO pathetic that you actually remember the song...

Level #2
It's MORE pathetic that you can even remember who sang it...

Level #3
It's EVEN MORE pathetic that we are BOTH old enough to have been in high school in the 80's

Level #4
It's MUCH MORE pathetic because I am sure I still have a copy of that album packed in a box somewhere.....

Level #5
It's MOST pathetic because I haven't owned a record player in 10 years.

He he. Thanks for the memories - and who says weed destroys brain cells?

Doggy,

Hmmmmm.

9th year in the Navy vs years that The Who toured the USA.

John Cougar stopped being John Cougar in the mid 80's (then John Cougar Mellencamp, then John Mellencamp, now nobody), and he was an opening act when you were there, I am sure (i.e. don't quote me) his first hit album with "Jack & Dianne" etc (thereby making him a headliner) was like 1981? ......

Loverboy was an afterthought... but as international stars they rose, peaked and died in the normal 80's fashion - about 7 minutes in the early 80's ('82 their peak?).....

Hmmmmm.

The concert, by my reckoning, must have been 1980/81, you say joined the Navy at 16/17 and had been in 9 years, so you must joined in like 71/72 and that would mean you would have been born around 55/56.

After working out the algorithm and doing the math I am figuring you are closer to 50 than 40.

And I have WAAAYYY to much time on my hands this afternoon.

Hunny,

I like some of his stuff too.

But I was just stating fact - he is now a nobody.

Unless your stuff has been sampled and built upon you are pretty much gone and forgotten...

Damn, even Supertramp made #1 quicker as a remix than they did on new release!

John cougar had an album out and a hit, called " aint even done with the night" before he made his success as john Cougar Mellencamp.... Just fyi ( I grew up in Indiana, and went to school with his cousin... I have been to his pink house in bloomington indiana several times as a kid growing up ( early high school and middle school days )

It was the fall of '82, and I was 20 when I joined the Navy. Joe is right ... he was just John Cougar when I saw him, then went to Cougar Melenkamp, and I believe is now just using his given name. It's a shame the guy could never break out of the pop mold, because he did have some talent.

And I am not going to tell you when the first two times I saw the Who were ... suffice it to say that the SECOND time was a few months after they had recorded the concert that became the "Live At Leeds" album.

Seventeen has turned thirty-five
I'm suprised that we're still livin'
If we've done any wrong
I hope that we're forgiven

Got a few kids on my own
And some days I still don't know what to do
I hope that they're not laughin' too loud
When they hear me talkin'
Like this to you

That's when a smoke was a smoke
And groovin' was groovin'
And dancin' meant everything
We were young and we were improvin'

Vick

Forgot to say hello to my neighbors
Check it out
Sometimes I question my own behavior
Check it out
Talkin' about the girls that we've seen on the sly
Just to tell our souls we're still the young lions

So check it out
Gettin' to drunk on saturdays
Check it out
Playin' football with the kids on sundays
Check it out
Soarin' with the eagles all week long
And this is all that we've learned about living
This is all that we've learned about living

I don't know what this has got to do with Oprano being closed on the weekends but it's good to see a little slower board on the weekend during summer (in North America) maybe means we're getting out and enjoying life

Beyond that ........

JCM was the one of the great American lyricists, as were Springsteen before him (see Greetings From Asbury Park) and (as much as it makes me ill to say) Bob Dylan

JCM caught a huge slice of American life and wrapped it tunefully, something many of us could relate to (especially us "old" guys with some head and heart)

From children to love affairs and old friends, American challenges (see entire Scarecrow album), to not so gracefully growing old.

We could consider the lyrics, our lives and our country, where we've been and we're we might go, sway with our lovers, have a damn good time and drink with friends to the soundtrack JCM provided

and I'd say Your Life Is Now ....

HoneyBlond
07-12-2004, 05:15 AM
Would you teach your children to tell the truth
Would you take the high road if you could choose
Do you believe you're a victim of a great compromise
'Cause I believe you could change your mind and change our lives

Your life is now your life is now your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Would you teach your children to tell the truth
This is your time here to do what you will do

(apologies Vick, but its a favorite :) )
