Ironies of the liberals and conservatives

I have always thought this was interesting.

Liberals tend to be more passive, compassionate and considerate of the lesser among us. They tend to be anti-establishment, especially with corporations, bankers and the rich who operate without regard for the unfortunate.

These are the basic tenants of Christianity. Yet, they are primarily anti-religion, anti-God, anti-spiritual.

Conservatives, on the other hand, believe they have moral superiority and are typically religious Christians. Yet, they are more intolerant of homosexuals, prostitutes and the less fortunate.

This is opposite of the tenants of Christianity.

I have always found many moderates who float in the middle and criticize both sides to think they have the "moral superiority".

I am not a Republican, but I am not a moderate either. I beleive in strong posistions, and am not wishy-washy. Most moderates I know are professional fence sitters. These people annoy me more then anyone.

I appreciate people who hold strong ideas, even if they are wrong, I like dealing with passionate people - not those who try to make everyone happy, or who change their opinions like underwear.

Or the moderate who tries to play the middle, criticizing both sides to make himself look wise and intelligent and "above all of that."

Guilty here, Mike! I usually find that there are valid arguments on either side of most debates. I might lean one way and then another due to my learning new facts or the world changing.

Criticizing both points isn't to make oneself look better - hell criticize them all. Criticize me - and do so brutally, but logically and with a point. I'll listen. All hold an idea in different shapes called multiculturalism. That notion makes me gag - both from an academic perspective and from simply a human perspective.

Multiculturalism isn't celebrating different cultures, it's melding them into one culture - that's regurgitated and handed to people by political demigogues. The more traits they "meld" away...the less chance those advocates and followers have for survival.
