A number of years ago, a bunch of us were trying to figure out if there was a word that would be understood anywhere you travel. A universal word. There were a lot of ideas, but we finally settled on one word that you can say in any country on the planet and be understood. More to the point, get what you need. There may be others, but we could only come up with one. Any guesses?

I never thought of the words but I always use the gesture which is understood universally:
I
connect my thumbs and pointing fingers together and make a square sign in the air with the fingers....it ALWAYS gets me a bill at the restaurant in no time

Well we thought about visa, hotel, ok, toilet, yes, no, phone, fuck, and a ton of others and we all agreed the only word you can say anywhere and be understood and actually get what you want right away is......Taxi
