Lawyer Says Saddam Tortured (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=3687)

A Jordanian lawyer who claims he represents Saddam Hussein said he believes the ousted Iraqi leader was subjected to torture, although a copy of a letter reportedly sent to his daughters seems to show the ex-president in good spirits.

Mohammed Rashdan said he had a copy of a January 21 report by the International Committee of the Red Cross that said the detainee's health was good but that he was "slightly wounded." It gave no details on the injury.

"This is blatant proof that the Iraqi president was subjected to physical and moral torture and violence," said Rashdan, who says Saddam's wife appointed him as lawyer shortly after the ex-leader's December 13 capture.


I am going to be so upset if I find out the rumors that Saddam is being tortured are true.

Yes, I think they are behind much of the hate in the middle east. I was visiting one of my arab friends, and he showed me some of the things being said in the arab world.... many of them do propaganda press with ½ truth and ½ lies, so it seams real to those who read it. Also when they do TV shows, then they use much of their time showing pictures of dead children etc. while explain that ex . "today US gav control of the economy to Iraqis"... positive messages are drowning in bad pictures.
I can understand how a person with little or no education will get angry, if feed stories/pictures/tv shows as those daily. Also alot of everyday talk is filled with racisme - like describing jews the same way nazis did.... it makes it ok to hate.

Sure we in the west also have misunderstandings about arabs, but we do not have a one sided press trying to withhold information from us or using intens propaganda, so we will hate.

rolo, you are amusing, but you really have no idea. You need to read and interpret. Of course we have a one sided press. But we do have access to many alternative sources. But that is not what the mainstream bothers to read or watch. Now you maybe French or you may not be depending on your predeliction this evening.
