Don't go to shows anymore. I am not in the wholesale business, so there is nothing there for me. I don't buy what fuckingnastyplatinumgoldenpimpindollars pitch. I don't sell, buy, or move traffic. So there is nothing there for me because I am not a customer. I've been to a couple and got nothing but hard sell and ersatz bling. You know, another young guy in a leased ferarri of some sort with a license plate that says PornDude or something with a Philly roll in his pocket. So I just do what I do and do it well. I find that staying out of the multi level marketing loop is very good for business. Not that there is anything wrong with traffic guys, we all got to earn a living, but I only work for myself in a more traditional kind of way. Every time I have tried "buying in" traffic it fails and I have no need to sell my traffic, I would rather keep it. TGPs are a total waste of time unless you are running them. Content trading shoots are a pain in the ass. I would rather just pay models and send them home. More productive than these gang bang shoots that everyone goes for. So apart from partying till you puke, what else is there? Hell I can stay home and do that with my friends.
Now if there was ever a convention organized for folks like me, I would be there in a shot. I usually meet a couple when I have been to these things and we talk about our issues. Maybe its a hole in the market.
Too many conventions anyway. If I want to party in a Limo, I just go out and rent it.

I'm not there, first one of Fay's shows I have missed, because of commitments at school. I still haven't figured out how to be in two places at the same time.

I hear San Diego is amazing. It is high on my list of have to see cities. One of these days.
It is a nice city, but smoggy ... and the weather is always wierd when i'm there
I've driven there a few times from LA just to get the whole experience ... I should always drive there, once I flew .... our plane couldn't land so we had to land in LA and get bussed into San Diego (at 4am)
the security in San Diego after 9.11 was scarier than most other cities ... lots of soldiers with guns!!
We're all here 'cause we're not all there

I'm around. Too much work to do to go for the entire week, and that's too long of a plane ride to make it worthwhile to just zip out for a couple of days.
I might jump in GonZo's pocket with CJ for a bit. And if the pocket is rockin', dont be knockin'!

I'm not there either.
Due to my current living situations that mother nature did.
I have other things to take care of.
I don't know if I'll be able to attend any of them this year now.

I am in San Diego..... the Hyatt is a dump, the staff has been rude, and rooms are pretty shitty.
We wre promsied high speed, and there is none - I am posting this from the lobby. I do not understand how you can throw an internet convention without having high speed access in the rooms of the attendants AND SPONSORS!!
Other then that it is good to see a lot of people. I will try to get some photos up later ( when I get back to the lobby)
It is pretty nipply here in SD. Hope Gonzo will keep me warm!
HP, not sure if there's enough room in here for all of us .... good thing he wears big pants!!!! :biglaugh:
and mike, your complaints about the cold will be totally ignored because SOME of us are experiencing actual cold!!!!! :P
Serge, there's not *much* left to tell :biglaugh:
I´m not San Diego - new investment keeping me more than busy, but should be paying off once it has been optimized :)

Hey man, so some cocktails are on me for sure in florida. Deal?
Rolo, just think how much you'd be wasting if you were there! you made a fortune just by staying home! :yowsa:
I haven't heard from Gonzo since he was stranded at the airport ... San Diego is either *really* fun or *really* fucked
On a local note, I just got accused of KP by a GFY webmaster for my Olsens tour

A GFY webmaster. Shocking! Who could have predicted that one?

cj.. i think it moved, nice tour;)
I will go to a show every now and then just to see old friends. There are too many of them, and i prefer to deal with people i have dealt with in the past. New customers are always welcome, but the shows do not offer anything new that cannot be encountered in more efficient ways. Plus things here in New Orleans are going like a well oiled machine, with lots to focus on for the future.
Seeing old friends is great, i just stick with them, make my lap of the showroom floor and relax. Maybe i go to one a year. I don;t get to see certain people enough, thats the only down side.

Yeah I'm in the UK, I was going to try and make it down South for Richard and Jerremy's UK webmasters get together but then I realised I hate London ;-)
Did Vegas in 2000 and thought it was good but just not my cup of tea...

My boss asked if I wanted to go, but I didn't want to take the time out of packing this late in the game. We move in three weeks so it's better to spend the time doing what I need to do. Don't need to put myself further behind.
Actually, I'm really surprised, less people went to San Diego than I thought would.
