if another board is offering 10 cents a post, and allowing you to use a sig where you are gettin paid per impression. then all the rats, should swim there correct? that would make this place rodent free and hence a great place to conduct biz. i would have thought you guys over here would embrace this idea like a brother.

take the vermin who have no fucking clue. pay the rat finks who dont understand how to set up there ars sigs and call themselfs webmasters.

just keep them over there.....

Paying for posts is bad for sponsors. Sig whoring is bad for boards. Both create a lot of static rather then real information and feedback.

Most serious webmasters do not have much time to wade through bullshit posts and responses to get the latest vibe from the industry.

The only people who can keep up with all the post ARE the sig whores and kiddies who need to post and collect dimes to earn their arcade money.

We do love it. Imagine going to a business meeting or conference where people were paid to talk or ask questions. The more people would talk the more they would get paid, quantity over quality. Pretty soon all the idiots would keep on blabbering and no one would pay attention but the other idiots.

Hmmmm....

Does the BBS software support multiple user levels? Can the SIG function be turned on or off by user level?

Wouldn't it be kinda ironic if while other boards pay people to post and kick out dimes to people just posting inane threads for sig exposures.....Oprano actually charged for the ability to customize your sig.

Make it cheap, but priced enough to be worth the hassles of managing. Not sure what the magic price point would be....$25 a month? $50?

Only people it would piss off would be the true sig whores who dont have much to say or contribute anyway. The true business minded folks would see it as a bargain....cheap advertising and you control the placement based on your own posting. And for those who just hang out here for the water cooler aspect of the board, it doesn't really impact them....

Give sponsors a certain number of "sig users" as part of their sponsorship package.

Only sigs you'd see would be sponsors and people who paid. Fewer banners and buttons in the threads means the ones that are paying actually stand out. Should result in better click thrus.

and while it seemed like a really stupid request, once I explained what I needed it for it not only made sense to everyone, but I got to spam my program again and let everyone know we had a new tour without actually having to start a thread that said 'we have a new tour'. :okthumb: and while all of that was happening, a group of us were laughing our heads off and enjoying ourselves both on the board and on icq ...
