Haiku = Japanese poetry.
Kiai = Technique used to expel the air from your lungs so you don't have the wind knocked out of you. Apparently, you can also hit harder when you perform the Kiai. Contrary to popular belief, it's not a shout. The idea is to release the air from your lungs as quickly as possible. The louder the better, but not a shout.

Of course, i know you already knew that a haiku wasn't a kiai. Just correcting about the shouting.
