He has a ways to go before he's in the black on jobs creation....

Is the U.S. economy growing? It depends on whom you ask. If you, or a member of your family, are among the millions of unemployed, chances are the answer would be a resounding NO!

Instead of job growth, more than 3.2 million private sector jobs have disappeared since President Bush took office. This is the largest sustained loss of jobs since the Great Depression.

On average, that’s roughly 106,000 private sector jobs lost every month – the worst under any president in 58 years. The number of unemployed workers has risen to over nine million, and the unemployment rate has jumped from 4 percent at the end of 2000 to 6.1 percent in September 2003. The rate would be much higher if the underemployed and those who have given up looking for work were included.

Sare,
this article of March 10 is WRONG and was written prior to the last 2 job reports!

626,000 NEW JOBS has been created since the article was written...
don't you love when politically motivated "ANALysts" are wrong on either side?

Serge 3.2 million - 650,000 still equals a ton of people out of work.

He would have to create 600,000 new jobs every month for the next 4 months to catch up... and that is just to break even over a 4 year period.

I will say though that the 650,000 number is good... will go reading to try to understand what is bringing it on (like maybe the low US dollar?)

The bottom line is the bubble burst that happened in early 2000 was going to happen no matter who took the office. And Sept 2001 was going to happen no matter who took office. Despite this, Bush has really done a great job with the economy (keeping the dollar low, interests rates low, etc. see the positive effects now). That doesn't mean I am going to vote for his Pro-Religious ass. But, nonetheless, good job on the economy given the circumstances.

Serge,

Your probably correct on the re-election speculation. Too bad the options for either party pretty much suck

Jesse: 9/11? who knows? With Gore in, would it have happened? Happened the same way? You don't know that.

Taking interest rates to pretty much a record low (1%?) has certain effects on the economy, but as has been seen in japan, low interest rates alone will not save an economy for long. When you go to that well to often, it runs dry (at 1%, there isn't much lower to go before you put banks into trouble!).

It will be interesting to see the results when interest rates rise back up to a more normal 4 or 5 %...

yes, under the circumstances, and given the short term nature of political decisions, Bush has dne okay. My question is how many of those circumstances did he create himself?

I have very strong Republican Economic Views... with very strong social Democrat views (abortion, drugs - but not on gun laws and no socialistic health care.). I am a Libertarian. With a choice between two moderates I would almost always choose the Republican. However, NOTHING scares me more than the Religious Right. I just printed out my Florida registration card yesterday. I believe that the vote will be close. There are a lot of people like me unaccounted for in the current poles. Where I believe that if you were going to vote Republican before you have a better chance of being accounted for in the current poles. I could be wrong on that but...

We need to get Christianity out of the Whitehouse for the next 4 years. I was reading an article yesterday and now religious organizations are going to be eligible for HUD loans. That is crazy.

Meni,
if you don't have proof that Bush sold his country to Bin Laden and his family,
the argument of ties is irrelevant.

I knew the biggest Russian mobster in USA, partied with him at the same restaurant and was introduced to him

Smoochies, all!

Jesse: hear, hear

We need more rational, sane people in office; not more homegrown fundies to fight off the foreign fundies. Invisible men have no place in governing America... or in the 21st century world. Keep your gods at home or in church where they belong.

Where'd you read that HUD thing? Got a link?

For those who're interested, I've been busy at the day job (http://thematrixonlineboards.warnerbros.com) and learning some kewl stuff. Someone's gotta do it! ;-) And until my skills are outsourced, I'm hangin' in!

Just stopped by to say hi, and wish the Moms (and Muthas) a Happy Day :-D

Upon what do you base your opinion that Bush will carry Illinois without a problem?

Upon what facts do you make the inference that Kerry is a pussy (other than that people who you want to impress hold that opinion)?

Back in '91 at the start of George Sr's foray into Iraq, I was teaching programming at a local business school. The day that we actually went into Iraq, after bombing the hell out of them for a good long while, the major conversation was of course the invasion. All the guys in my programming class were like "Yeah, lets go kick some ass", "Take out Iraq", "show him who's boss", the normal bravado type shit. I walked into class and listened to all this for a bit and then asked the room, "Ok, how many of you have gone down and signed up to go fight".

Room went pretty much totally silent.

Lot's of folks talk the talk. Not so many walk the walk.

Your death in combat, in Camaro, or at the hands of a woman of substance who comes out of her coma and realizes she's been seeing you, would be a blessing to this country, although there is such an is an overabundance of narcissistic adolescents with overinflated opinions of themselves in this country today that a lot of them would have to go before any noticable effect would be felt.

i keep hearing people say this, but nobody i know personally intends to vote for bush in november. even my father who has been recognized for his contributions to the republican party probably will abstain from voting rather than vote for bush again.

it's getting harder and harder to pretend americans have any real choice in politics anymore. basically your choice in america is a vote for the middle-right pro-israel wing or the farther-right pro-israel wing of the corporate party.

voting for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil, so my last vote was my last vote.
