c'mon Labret, how does it feel to watch another Russian Serge becoming billionair while you, the moron from Detroit who thinks he knows it all,
just lose fucking money in your muni bonds and prey on goat fuckers buying your memberships?

I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole...too my hype,
NOBODY in public even has a clue IF they are profitable or not or how much if they are but...
EVERYBODY want it!

I don't....

Too much money in SE and related services - MSFT, YHOO, and others will invest much in this business (take overs) - so much I think google might end up as another NSCP...

But sure it would be nice to have some stocks in the company - just not AFTER every man, woman and child have invested in the company (IMHO, the IPO is the big cash cow - not the stock in 5-10 years) :)

Cash cow for whom?

Serge Brin? Underwriters? brokers?

Remember the Netscape IPO?

Google should pop bigtime. They are likely profitable, however much of that revenue is now coming from Adwords.

The wildcard in that area is Microsoft....

Consider this... Microsoft controls the default home page on the default browser of some 90% of the systems sold. Microsoft wants to be a SE player. They're working on their own search technology, Looksmart is going away. They're also working on their own ad words system, Overture will soon be on the way out as well.

How do they squash the nuts of Google and the other SE's? Easy, take away one of their key revenue streams. Imagine the fun if Microsoft were to say offer their ad words with a penny bid as the minimum?

Serge,

you're right about not touching the shares - too much hype plus..

All the past SEs that went public were all dogs (excite@home, lycos, infoseek, etc.)

when a SE goes public, its always the downfall - the motive of the SE centers on profits, rather than content-related searches.

if google goes IPO, you can be sure another SE will have a lot of power to come in and create a better SE, while google sells off all the listings to advertisers.

HAHAHAH

Can anyone find the Typo here? Bad Serge! LMFAO :D :D :D :D :D

OTOH, I had $125K in a fund back in 98 and I could only get 100 shares of popular IPO's when my broker was literally KISSING MY ASS 2 get me to put that money in that account.. talkin sending bottles of Dom kissing ass...

I can only imagine the market is tougher now.. You pry need US $1M to get 500 shares of a stock opening at $20.00 by the time you can sell will be at 25 - 40 by my guess...

Or you could be lucky and be investing in the next MicroSoft - It all will depend on how google's management handles Yahoo dropping their arsses :-)

Not sure they could be the next MSFT... their product is too easy to copy (I´m guessing SEs will use a good part of their time with patent lawsuites in the future), and in the age of mass media hype, then the next big thing could beat google in months - not years (just a click or bookmark away)

Google got a brand, they are making news every 6 months or so, they got eyeballs, and they are making money... its a nice business, but thats it.... once the hype is over, then the market will adjust their price (but who knows - maybe the hype will continue for years :awinky:
