Man, please don't tell me I'd still be in a cabinet shop. Hopefully by now I would have had the balls to open my own place... I can picture it now. The best cabinets money can buy... and I'm broke because everyone wants Craftmaid shit from Home Depot. :-(

My Slogan: Andrew's Custom Cabinetry - If you don't like them the way I build them, get the fuck outta my shop!

Rules:

1. We do NOT paint cabinets. You paint cherry and I'll kill you.

2. Mahagony is only reserved for those who will truly appreciate it.

3. Don't order a spice drawer and then buy those HUGE bottles of spices from Sams and complain that they don't fit in the drawer. It's a fucking DRAWER, lady... not a pantry closet.

4. No, I will NOT paint oak either you fucking moron! Or maple! Get out!

I'd still be in my Archery shop dealing with every weekend warrior in the area, that knows FAR more about it than I do, cuz he watched a Ted Nugent tape....

Hmmmm I shudder to think I might still be a marketing director

Working 6 days a week, 60 to 80 hours a week (that make this business a vacation but the commute is much better), well on the way to my first heart attack

I probably would have taken an entry level job out of college and I'd be working my way up the corporate ladder, kissing the boss's ass, hating life and fucking fat bitches on the weekends.

How about pine? :awinky:

It was funny, I looked at a lot of houses where the wall, floors and ceilings were all pine like mine. Then they'd stick in "upgraded" kitchen cabinets - looked stupid, IMHO. :P

Sometimes I really like pine, other times I don't... Knotty Pine is a pain in the ass to cut. The knots cause it to fall apart as it's running through the saw, and that can be dangerous. Especially if the saw blade catches a knot and sends it toward your face at 100mph. It's also so sappy that you have to do a lot to it in order to put a finish on it.

I've worked with Ponderosa Pine and Sugar Pine, and they were beautiful... easy to work with too.

Of course, that's my opinion based on working with pine. I like the way it looks, so if someone else were doing the work it would be cool. :)

Mine is all knotty yellow (white?) pine - all my floors, all my outside walls (due to the D logs) and all the ceiling and exposed beams. And all the cabinets in the kitchen, bathrooms and wetbar :awinky:

What's weird is that all my windows and moulding is also pine except the doors! It's one of the improvements I want to do - get rid of the crappy doors and put in 6 or 5 panel pine doors with the pine moulding. Between that any my brightly "all different color" wall, I'll be happy :okthumb:

Knotty pine looks really nice, it's just cutting it that's a bitch. Get ready to duck! LOL

I am just about done futsing around with my house at this point... Been slowly painting the place since last September. All I've got left is my master bedroom closet and my office and I'm all set. Set to be doing yardwork that is...

I'm beginning to appreciate having a very small house and just a handful of walls that can be painted. And here's a hint: no one will EVER know if your closets are or aren't painted, lol! :P

C'mon Peaches, you know that ain't my style... :nyanya:

Going to go through all my clothes and donate a bunch of old stuff, pull out all the shelves, spackle and paint, and then organize the hell out of the whole thing. Probably going to do something like the Elfa shelves and make more use of the space... Since my home office is an extra bedroom, I'll be putting shelves in that closet from floor to ceiling as well.

I'm also thinking about hardwood floors in the kitchen, but I just gotta knock this shit off. I've got too many ideas for fun filled weekend projects. LOL
