Okay, I have been at this a long time... but recently I have seen waves and waves of spam that jsut really confuse me. It appears to all come from the same few places, and is always pretty much the same.

The subject is always a pill with a typo (to avoid filtering)... I will get sent to the SAME SINGLE EMAIL ADDRESS 50 or 100 of these things over a day. They all go to the same place, they all feature the same product, and they always go to the same single email address.

What I am wondering is this: Is this effective? I have been getting this stuff for over a month (goes through prozac, viagra, vicodin, etc).

Any ideas?

Alex

Nobody ever said spammers were smart.

The only good spammer is one forced to watch their family die before I turn the ball-peen hammer on them.

fucking parasites.

What do you think of those who distribute Spyware and such?

Stupid martketing tactics to swamp an email box... But it could be you just pissed off Nick too.... :yowsa:

Anyway, rather than start a whole nother Spam thread, I decided to hijack this one... :)

Just got a fake email confirmation email into one of my boxes. I always like these and the paypal ones.. Anyway, when I get thios shit, I always go and look at the source of it to see who is sending the shit. This one didn't look too bad, couple of grammatical errors that told me up front it was bullshit..

But under the wreappers, the form process is calling this http://deborahj.users20.donhost.co.uk/ [wholelongstringofshitgoies here]

So, it appears that someone was stupid enough to use an identifiable account for their rip off script...lolololol....

The Russians had this fun game they used to play with the snow mexicans when they controlled Alaska. They would line them up front to back and see how many they could pass a musket ball through with one shot.

I would like to play that game with the aforementioned groups.

I had to start using Spamblocker from earthlink. It's a pain in the ass but one of my main accounts gets at least a few hundred junk emails a day. I've used this account online for years.

Every morning I launch spybot and adware. I keep stopzilla running. It's a pain but having pop-ups freeze my PC is worse. I think that there are people who are just plain abusive with this shit and everyone pays for it. I like getting information but I hate filtering through all the crap. Marketing today is hard on the web. It's time to get really innovative because just about everyone I know is running blockers, filters and spyware killers. maybe a few will get through here and there but the programmers that hate them will just find ways to block them.

What I really really hate is the fuckers who call me at home to sell me something when they have my email. I’ve had to add another number, I never answer and use it for my credit cards, purchasing and registering.

I bet if spammers had to pay per email they’d pay closer attention to their list. What’s funny is that you can’t send an unsolicited fax but you can spam the hell out of email.

Dianna, I would suggest using the google toolbar popup blocker? it is quite effective, now only failing on the Maxcash (and a few others) using different methods to toss consoles. For 99% of stuff, well, no problem.

I run adaware pretty much every day, cwshredder, and I deleted out the hosts file (most common redirection happens in the hosts file, it is VERY easy to write a program in VB to make new entries there...).

It doesn't stop the overwhelming firehose of spam I keep getting. AFTER filters I still had over 10 pieces of spam since I went to bed, without the filters it would have been 500-1000 pieces. It's insane.
