Mike, PD, or any other of you political interest devotees. Do you know anything about the October Crisis of 1970 in Montreal? It's an interesting study about the province of Quebec.

The reason I mention it is because I recently bought a copy of "Action: The October Crisis of 1970" from the National Film Board of Canada. I had seen it on television many years ago (it was actually made in 1973) but noticed it as available from the NFBC.

Now, I have read many books on francophone adversity/evolution in Canada and esp Quebec, but this one seems to drive it home for me. Maybe because it was made in the early seventies, and no producer or author's memory had been tainted by the media for 30+ years to tell a proper non-fictional account of October 1970.

I can honestly say I have never studied the history of Quebec. My only knowldege comes from South Park on that subject!

Seriously, I would be interested in reading a little about it. The French are always causing problems....

I think you'd enjoy reading about the significance of Pierre Trudeau during those times. He was a Liberal Prime Minister, however he had a very hard-line approach to politics, and is in my opinion one of the greatest Canadians ever.

Very good video clips and reading. What's more, it contains documents only recently released about the whole thing.
