arite I mentioned this when we were doing some retooling but it hasnt taken off so i thought i'd mention it again. alot of you are really into wine it seems, and some of us could really use some actual person input, rather than reviews of what binnys overbought and needs to sell. folk like serge and forest and whatnot could pick a wine or two and yack about it, i'm sure some people would find it useful, especially me, as i really need to stop grabbing random 20 dollar bottles. I'm going to make my contribution by doing a weekly film review and "learn" you some of the aspects of film.

weekly wine thread? what say ye?

Steve, the trick is:
1) find 15 dollar wine which tastes like $30
2) stock enough of it to last 'till the next year crops
3) make sure you don't overstock the wine to see it spoiled
(some wines have a shorter shelf life)

I dunno about weekly thread, but none of us wine lovers are sgy about our good finds
;-)))

nope....

ANY vintage has good and not so good years,
people who just buy labels, basically just throw money away.

There are a few regions I drink,
and I follow the years (prefferably with my tongue ;-)

I also like to find NEW regions I like,
but....when I find the one I like the most,
I get 6-8 cases and use it as a daily wine.

Some wines I keep for special ocassions with different degree of success...I had good wines going bad,
like Joseph Phelps 1997 Merlot,
and the only suspicion I have is that the case was sold cooked a priori,
as 12 out of 14 bottles I had were...bad.

here is the one I reccomend highly,
probably finished 10 cases this year with friends and family:
Coppola 2001 Merlot
(avoid 2000 from Napa)

have a bottle and tell me what you think.

when I get my hands on 2002 Copolla, I'll write the review.
;-)

if you can put your hands on Nippozano, 2001 Chianti
(I had it in Italy, but could only find 199, 1998 in USA)
that's another great uncer $20 a bottle wine.

Don't see the need for it, myself.

On an almost daily basis I whine about Bush, Mike AI whines about liberals...

I got 2002 Coppola Merlot today,
review is coming tonite/tomorrow.

Syrah is sweeter, more robust grape.

Also got 2001 Toasted Head to try, 1999 was a killer for toasted head, 2000 sucked.

I am on the search for every day wine myself,
seems like Coppola 2001 Merlot is GONE now,
what a pity!
