I just dug up an old trailer we had made.... figure it was timely now.

Click here to see Mark Mateo 8 months before the HIV outbreak in the industry. (http://hirise.biz/michael/gfy/safesex.wmv)

The fact that performers aren't tested before every shoot would be enough to give me the condom only attitude if I were in that side of the business, that is for sure.

But overall, as Jenna mentioned, the industry has a much lower rate of infection than the general population, and if you think about how much sex actually goes on in the industry as a per capita versus the general population, they've at least been doing a decent job.

Even if they were tested before every shoot, It would still possible for an outbreak like this to happen..(although I doubt it would be as widespread as this so quickly)

It's my understanding that HIV antibodies could still be undetectable for a week or more after contracting the virus. If someone was exposed and contracted HIV 3 days ago a clean HIV test today doesn't mean anything.

My prediction is that porn shot in the US will be with condoms. I wouldn't be surprised if a few studios get their asses sued off in this mess. I think a court determining that a studio is liable for their actor's contracting HIV during a shoot will be all it takes to get condoms and dental dams in movies shot in the US.

If that happens I'm sure a lot of the shoots will move off shore, because customers probably prefer bareback movies!
