So I'm past the box pickup time for around here, so I lookup the nearest post office online, 2646 n clark. Leave at 320, Head over there, park, takes about a half hour (it's .75 miles away) and walk around.....that post office don't exist anymore!

Asked some people on the street, someone tells me hit 3635 lincoln...better hurry.

I'm off! With the rush traffic around here this takes me an hour to get to lincoln and then go the few miles. I get there and bam two big FAT parking spaces up front. Take em both. I'm in and dropped it off, I'm like "I'm cool right?" he's like "Yep you're good!"

Get the tops off my car and turn it on, it's 4:55. Shazaaam! And today was the warmest day of the year at least 70, so I do the cruise and all is well.

Hurray! :D :D :D

What a backwards ass city you live in....

Most of the big post offices here will be open right up until the midnight deadline. Many of the grocery stores also have setup so they can take returns and postmark 'em as well.

Watching the lines of traffic of frantic people trying to get into the post offices on April 15th used to be quite entertaining...

However, there doesn't seem to be much of a sense of urgency this year. I think lots and lots of people are filing online.

Hmmm, just so you know.

They don't look at postmarks for like a week or so after the deadline.

They've been having "old timers" write about the past in the local paper (have to do something to fill up a weekly paper). It's been VERY interesting since most people their age didn't live in what was REALLY the back woods then. I guess I just never realized how true the hanging mail bag situation was until someone wrote about happening when they were growing up :)
