After just two weeks on the air, Air America Radio, the fledgling liberal talk-radio network featuring Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, appears to have encountered serious cash-flow problems.

The CHICAGO TRIBUNE is developing a story, insiders tell DRUDGE, on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los Angeles, the network's second- and third-largest markets, because, the owner of both stations said, the network bounced a check and owes him more than $1 million! A charge the network strongly denies... Developing...

Well, even if this isn't true I bet they fail pretty soon (within the year). There have been several attempts at Liberal radio and they don't pan out. Maybe they aren't controversial and antagonistic enough - and that is what it takes in radio - Howard, Dr. Laura (bitch), Rush, etc.

It's probably because the listeners to rightwing radio are lemmings.

They don't seem to be able to tolerate opposing viewpoints and tend to get more fired up about issues.

Liberals are too mellow generally and just don't tend to get controversial enough to attract enough listeners to make it commercially viable. Their product is too vanilla.

Liberals usually have a hard time understanding the free market system, and how to turn a profit. Liberals like to turn to the gov't for handouts.... But the gov't already funds one liberal network.... NPR!
