... sounds nervous. Her voice is cracking and she keeps stumbling over her words .. like George Bush I when he was giving his 2nd Republican Convention speech while trailing Clinton heavy on the polls.

She seems less so on TV now that I've looked.

I have only been watching the past 10 minutes she is looking good to me. Some freaking idiots are trying to tie her up, they are not even asking questions, but rather making statements.

I have the TV on and I'm partially listening. I keep hearing CLAPPING. Clapping at a commission hearing?

Did the people making statements when Clark was testifying bother you as much? Or is it just the fact that you don't happen to agree with the point of the questions asked by the people in question?

BTW ... did it also bother you when Dr. Rice was being asked specific questions and tried very hard to make statements rather than answer the questions?

Honestly I did not see his testimony.

But yeah it probably would have bothered me as well.

Of course Condi has nothing to promote, no books released just at the right time.

Clarke may have been someone who understood the threat, but he looses a lot credibility in my eyes with the book issue. ( that and he has a personal axe to grind with Condi) The only thing that I can see in his past was that maye have been the boy who cried wolf all the time ( with clinton and bush)....

Someone ask her why France wasn't more worried about Germany in 1926. I really want to know.

According to Nina Totenberg of NPR, the applause heard periodically is coming from the families of victims of 9/11.

Those people can clap at any goddamn thing they want to, IMHO.

You might not like Condi, who she works for, or what she beleives - but she is not letting any of these guys push her around and grandstand. ( There should not be live cameras for this kind of thing - actually this should be going on after the war like WWII)

Uhhhh ... don't think that's practical, since the war on terror will be going on for generations.

Yeah, that is a problem.

There is no doubt that our gov't dropped the ball before 9-11. All administrations are to blame for this, including Bush - though he had only a few months in office, I doubt he would have changed existing policy much. Bush was focused more on State sponsored terrorism, and expansion of WMD. I do not think many in the gov't appreciated the threat from non-State actors such as Al Quada.

I wouldn't really worry about that woman, she is one smart cookie.

intellectually she way out classes those people.

I have no ideal why the Demo's wanted her answer these questions in public.
And I'm sure they are the one's that pushed for it.

I should had added..

Maybe Bush but not her.

I like how the Democrats are blasting her and the Administration for not enacting policies which the Democrats are opposed to! Like preemptive strikes on emerging threats.

The idea that the Democrats would have supported an all out invasion of Afghanistan, as some of them just suggested we should have had in light of the threats, is so absurd that these hypocritical shitheads should be flogged in public for being so full of shit.

Your opinions are about as reasoned and as relevant to reality as J'sdude or Torone, but just out of idle curiousity ...

why do you even care? After all, this country has gone so far to hell that it's not worth your making any sacrifices? Why haven't you packed up your bags and gone someplace better?

i was up very early and watched some of it as i ate breakfast.

she seemed much less sure of herself and less confident than at any other time i have seen her.

i was also surprised and a little dissapointed to be reminded of how political this is. the guy i saw asking her questions was taking many issues, items, statements and remarks/comments out of context putting them together and ending everything with "so, is it true that....., yes or no" and continued to try to interrupt her and cut her off as she tried to put everything its proper context first.

i dont care who is right or wrong in the 9/11 thing. what matters is that something was done about it and that major sweeping changes were made and that it has not happened again... i was just dissapointed to be reminded of the ugliness of politics where everyone is using the murder of 3000 people for their own political benefit and that of their party.

their job is to investigate, ask questions and reach a conclusion at the end... not try to crucify people in the process with other personal and political motivations and agendas.

Well, Buffy, I don't need to move to France to be among people who think like me. I think like a whole lot of the people you hate. And, at least with my limited public school education, I don't think I mischaracterized a fucking thing.

I just think it's patently hypocritical of you to want to see us over there killing bad guys to protect your happy ass when "...none of you deserve to have me put my life on the line for you."

I understand Torone ... I pity J'sdude. You revolt me. It disgusts me that my girlfriend's son is putting his ass on the line for McVeigh's in training such as the likes of you, but it comes with the package.

Honestly? Because none of you deserve to have me put my life on the line for you. You people consistently vote to strip away every vestige of freedom this country has left.

It's so funny when I read you and Labret lament the coming tyranny of the Patriot Act and such -- yet you can't make the association between owning the product of your own labor and freedom. If you do not own your own body and the product of your own labor, you are not free in any meaningful sense. You belong to someone else. Yet you're worried about unlawful searches or wiretaps. The government can take 100% of your income away and spend it on rocket fuel to launch a go-cart to Mars, but you're worried about Americans killing people who have sworn their lives to dying as martyrs trying to murder Americans.

I will never shed another drop of blood for you or anyone else. As much as I love combat and warfare and killing bad guys, the thought that I might die to protect your right to sell your freedoms away makes me sick.

Excuse me, sir, but if you can be bothered to answer a couple of questions from a public school pussy ....

Where have I said we should surrender to terrorists? Where have I said we should negotiate with terrorists?

Should your daddy ask for that private school tuition back, or are you just fucking stupid?

For the record, yet one more time, I am opposed to the war in Iraq because it was sold to the people of the United States on false pretenses, with totally inadequate planning, with totally inadequate boots on the ground, and is counterproductive to the real war on terror that we should be fighting.

We, a "first world" power, appear to be fighting a war in a "third world" country using tactics that failed repeatedly under similiar circumstances throughout the 20th century. And we're trying to do it without the resources necessary for the job. Does that make sense to you?

You really ought to be the one to move to France, though ... you'd fit right in with at least part of their military. We've already got Afghanistan and Iraq, and you want to invade Syria and Iran and Bumfukistan.

Spoken like a true great French General, cirica 1915. Really macho ... got an absolutely SPLENDID number of folks the opportunity to die with glory.

And it had nothing to do with their defeat in the next war - they could blame that on the left.
