What's a good age to get married?

I was thinking along the lines of 32, unless I knocked up someone before then and liked them enough to not opt for abortion.


I think I've been "in love" a couple times now, but none lasted more than a year and a half...a lifetime is even longer!

Any thoughts? Happily married people here? People who married too early?

First of all, you're gonna have to do better than "like someone enough to not opt for abortion" before you get married, or the dude stylin in the Camaro will not be you. You can be a man and live up to your responsiblitites without making a bad situation worse by getting married.

Second, if you are running around with girls who would rather run the risk of pregnancy than fail to maximize the potential of their tanning sessions, you're probably not diving into the deep end of the gene pool.

Well ... there was that flea-ridden cocker spaniel. But after a bath it cleaned up nicely. A bath might work for you, too, but it would have to be a long one. Tie you up in a burlap bag along with two cement blocks, and I suspect after 20 minutes your personality would improve 100%.

Got married the first time at 19 - stupid does not BEGIN to describe that decision. My reasons for getting married were only marginally better than how good she looked when she was tanned - but hell, I knew it at the time.

Got married the 2nd time at 25. We would probably STILL be together - we remain good friends - were it not for the fact at the age of 30 she discovered that we had just a little too much in common. Specifically, an interest in women.

Some day I will figure out if my wife stole my girlfriend or my girlfriend stole my wife. 20 fucking years later and the wenches STILL won't tell me ...

Your change in handles/nicks may have fooled some of the folks, but the inner grogan is never far from the surface. Like most of everything else about you, it's pretty shallow.

You started a thread about what's a good age to get married. I can tell you from personal experience that few 19 year olds have what it takes, although I know a several couples who got married at that age and are still together 20 and 30 years later. I can also tell you that I would not have married my 2nd wife if she'd known/admitted to herself that she was a lesbian; and we would probably still be together if that wasn't the case. We were 25 when we met, and we were both mature enough to make the decision.

There is no "good age" to get married. Marriage requires a level of maturity, and chronological age has little to do with it. A desire for "girls evenly tanned" mentioned as a reason to risk pregnancy, particularly when taken in conjunction with the materialistic nature of most of what you post, does not suggest that level of maturity. I meant what I said earlier - if you think an uneven or blotchy tan is bad, you don't even want to know about stretch marks.

Now, if you think I am trying to one-up you, well, it's your delusion and you are welcome to it. If you think that making comments about my daughters one-night-stands is insulting, you are pathetic. They are adults, and free to do whatever they want with whomever they want. If you think that somehow the fact my 2nd wife struggled with her sexuality before finally admitting the truth somehow reflects poorly on me, then you're either stupid or immature - or both.
