But, it's all to no avail ....

Try it with XP Service Pack 2, Release Candidate 1 and you will see...

"This page has been restricted from running active content that might be
able to access your computer. If you trust this page, click here to allow it
to access your computer..."

How many people will be prepared to click there? And if you do? You first
have to select from a menu "Allow this page to access my computer". And
when you do that? Well, you get a pop-up warning Dialog box
saying "Enabling active content on your Local Machine may harm your
computer. DO you want to continue?".

Now I bet less than .0001% of users will ever allow that!

Seems to me that Microsoft have seen through most of these tricks and
when SP2 is released in about 8 weeks the pop-up party will be over ;)
