I do beleive in God.

I do not know Ashcroft's personal beleifs that well. I would imagine its the same God, just that Ashcroft may be a little more orthodox in his believes then I am.

Meni, sad to see you cannot answer a simple question.

Spaz, I agree with you 100%

I do not think Bush panders to the far right evangelical Christians. I think liberals use accusations that to try and scare people. Just like the liberals who refer to Bush as Hitler.... nothing but scare tactics.

I have yet to see anything but rhetoric on Ashcroft and Bush. I have not seen any concerete proof on any CONCRETE POLICY changes.

The reality is Bush can only do so much domestically without Congressional support and the dems in the Senate have blocked anything they don't like.

Meni, I think if you will check you will find that every President addresses groups like the evangelicals, and makes trite statements like the one Bush said here.

The difference between Bush and all of his predecessors is that he is opening up the federal treasury to them, and trying to make the government comply with their idea of "God's will."

It's not his words that bother me - they ain't much different than what John Kerry would say if he were to address the same group.

It's his actions that I don't like.

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong,
You don't wanna save me, sad is my song.

MikeAI, thanks man. But I wil say I disagree a bit here.
The one instance where I think Bush is all about his policy being pleasing to the far right is concerning gay marriages.
The talk and attempted policies are all about biblical interpretations.

I personally think that his stance is out of step with reality and a clear violation of civil rights

and I am straight
