Kerry Weak On Defense ...

WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. John McCain on Thursday defended Sen. John Kerry's record on national security, undercutting the Bush-Cheney campaign's latest attacks on the Democratic presidential challenger and frustrating conservatives hoping for a unified front against the Massachusetts senator.

"I do not believe that he is, quote, weak on defense," McCain, R-Ariz., said on NBC's Today show.

Earlier, on the CBS Early Show, when asked if he agreed with Vice President Dick Cheney's claim that Kerry is a threat to national security, McCain said: "I don't think that. I think that John Kerry is a good and decent man. . . . I think he has different points of view on different issues, and he will have to explain his voting record. But this kind of rhetoric, I think, is not helpful in educating and helping the American people make a choice."


Of course, Bush is not worried - after all, the President is fully aware that McCain avoided combat for more than 5 years during the Vietnam war, staying in a Hilton hotel for at least part of that time.

On Hardball Chris Matthews kept asking Sen. MCcain if he would join the ticket with Sen. Kerry, he of course said no.

I don't agree with him on alot of issues, especially choice, but I think he served his country well and is a decent politican.

Would be a change to see a duo ticket :)

I think he has, Mike ... which brings us back to the crux of the matter - whether the war in Iraq had anything to to with the war on terror.

It doesn't take a vast amount of knowledge of American history to know that, if Kerry becomes President next January, it will be "Kerry's War" by next September.
