it was a right move at that time to support Saddam against Iranians
no one can deny that

and Rumsfeld is not paid to speak, his job is to defent the country.
If that includes misleading the ingorant Americans, thats fine with me too.
If that includes killing more Arabs thats even better

That's pretty much ownage right there. I wish they'd do that shit more often -- catch politicians lying and present the lies to them on national TV and watch them hem and haw and squirm....

Holy Shit, stop the presses - we have a poloitician that is full of shit

Iraq has WMD's
I did not have sexual relations with that woman
Read my lips, No new Taxes
I have no recolection of that

OK, I have reached HS at this point and don't really remember

Point is these peopel lie professionally, they tell half truths with every word to

Tell voters what they think the voters want to hear so they will be elected

Further their political agenda

Hell at least when we "armchair politicians" here at Oprano (you know who we are) use half of an argument to prove our views we are not effecting the population at large.

Everyone in the world thought Saddam had WMD, even Saddam did. ( Why else refuse to let inspectors in when the US started its huge military build up?)

Was Iraq an imminant threat? Nope.... Did Saddam have many opportunities to back down and do the right thing.

This is an important lesson boys. If you don't have SHIT, don't bluff George Bush, cause he will call you and your ass will end up in some dank hole!

I would be run out of office quickly.... The reality is people do not want politicians to be bluntly honest.

I am no arm chair politician... I just give my opinion.

Rumsfield was busted, with the advent of ther net, and lexis-nexus searches you can easily find out all politicians are liars. From the local level, to state, to the feds.

Hey MikeAI!

Dank hole no more....

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein thinks he is smarter than his captors, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said Thursday.

"He's turned out to be a pretty wily guy who seems to be enjoying the give and take with his interlocutors," Armitage said in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Cooperation. "He sure thinks he's smarter than everyone else, that's for sure."

hahahahahahaha......SH is in US custody waiting for trial in Iraq. His country is in shreds, his sons are dead, he's out of power. And he still thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

Lady Law it sounds like some people on Oprano we know!! HAHAHA

Seriously I saw Alex almot posting with glee that the #2 al quada guy might have escaped the Pakistanis. Pretty sad that you are happy a known terrorist escapes if it hurts Bush.

I cannot understand this mindset.....

i think the real problem is not that politicians are inherently liars. its that the simple truth is rarely enough to make the sale.

Probably. In fact, Saddam was admonished by an American emmissary (one Donald Rumsfeld) for the use of gas on the Iranians.

The Iranians and the Iraqis were both using gas during their war with each other. Apparently there was a pretty fierce debate even within our own intelligence agencies as to whether the incidents were deliberate attacks on Iraqi Kurds (probably not what Saddam would consider his own people), "colateral damage" from an attack on or by the Iranians, or deliberately done by the Iranians.
