It was "The Board" no questions or doubts in my mind.

damm 10's and hundreds of people reloading all day and night. Oprano and a couple of other boards a great you know. Lots of online friends, biz talk, etc.

But when the flat boards stopped, and threaded came in it seemed to loose a little of the closeness or something, I don't know.

I remember talking with Mikeai and Serge, saying to compete, get with the times, etc you need to change oprano from flat to threaded. Serge didn't want it at first, Mike was worried too. I was pushing for it, now thinking back, it was the right choice, but the right choice isn't always the best choice :)

Serge no doubt about it, you helped make Netpond very popular also :)

NetPond has to be experiencing some down turn to let most all project managers go, and closing the flat board etc.....

Heard they were gonna D/C the Statistician and now they announce they are gonna keep it alive.....but I wonder how old the stats are.....they said it was not profitable and they got a riff going with the ex-project manager.

Shame to see NetPond #1 back slide to God knows what position, but its the times and dunno how they could have prevented the slide.

Your credentials at Netpond really don't mean much. The fact that you don't understand the difference of the board when we populated it, and how it is now, shows the difference between those of us who made our bones on it, and those who simply came after to pick up the crumbs.

It will never be what it was. I wish Meat and Aga the best with their new venture.

Since I spent 4 months doing the paperwork for the sale to go through between Nickatilynx and Aga and Meat. and the 2 years I ran it, 1 year of running the Newbie board, it is near and dear to me . But that was then, this is now.

When I finally started posting, I threw in a comment or a question now and then using a different name every time. One day, I stepped back and told myself I should be a part of the group. The mistake I made was that I tried to be anonymous. It didn't work. The tight-knit group didn't want an anonymous opinionated voice. I got hurt and fought back. I was lucky enough to have Lee Noga and Meat on my side. Meat didn't ban me...Aga did. I have put it behind me. I respected the ban. I have never posted again on Netpond from the day I was banned.

I remember all the craziness, the off and on banning of Serge, the posting of the latest news, the contests, the fights, the shows, the jokes, and the hundreds of different personalities. It reminds me of the death of Napster. Changes take place whether we want them to happen or not.

I know your history with Netpond Anthony, freckled with good and bad as it may be.
None of that makes *my* history with the board and my feelings about the board any less valid.

I'm touchy not because we disagree, but because you attempted to invalidate my feelings with your down-the-nose post.

If Netpond itself were being closed down I'd get sentimental with the rest of you. That's not the case, though. The boards are still there. The flat board would still be there if all of the people who have posted here and on the flat board today with their sentiments had kept posting there.

Like I said on the flat board, the only shame about it closing down is that it was neglected and left in total disrepair to become a spamfest - humiliated and disgraced - before it was finally let out to pasture.

This might not answer your question, JR. If not, well you got me thinking. Not only was I not fired from Netpond, I was the first to leave. Three months later the Exodus came and Adult NetSurprise sprung into being.

While I enjoyed (for the most part) my time at Netpond, and it was certainly a learning experience working there, I have always been a tad proud being the first to leave and not going with the crowd.

Not putting anyone down who stayed longer or decided enmass to stick together. That was cool for them. I just have zero regrets having decided to go my own way and doing my own things.

If that turned out to be tangent, so be it. My opinion on the board closing was already posted on that board. :)

I said it then, and I will say it now, running the 2 NetPond boards was a mistake, it fractured the community.

The flatboard remained the bread and the butter and the threaded was intended to supplement sponsor exposure so I was told. Running the patriarch board free and the threaded board paid was the error.

They should have closed down the flat and gone threaded at the time GFY was taking off, and not gone paid...and they would probably still be a force to contend with....at least in the Top 3 boards.

No season veteran would move to a busy body noisy stupid threaded message board littered with lameness threads chasing a trip to England....thats when the earth shifted.

Yup, I made quite a beef on the flatboard about this much to the annoyance of Aga and Meat....trying to bring to the attention the fracture of the community of the posting gorilla's that added such flavor and lurrker interest. But they built a different, milder community that are quite happy over. NetPond has a name but lost its founding game, thats all.

I do not agree with incentified boards, never have and never will and Oprano is one of my fav boards because it is REAL....and not doing incentives has spared Oprano alot of volume noisy threads which turn me off.

Busy does not mean better....I am noticing Brad is running out of threads to start....which I hope over time does not make that board appear, "forced" to keep momentum.

The times have changed the roles of resource sites, newbie help places etc. 300+ boards are probably in commerce and our industry is scattered amonst them all.

If every resource site went down, we would be none the worst. The message boards could carry the learning need.

Anyhoo we have way to much free porn due to TGP webmasters, so we really need to teach alot less.....we are at the point where if the noobs cannot figure out this business, stay out of it :-)))
