buy this one ... its one of my fave's, great $15-$25 every day drinking wines - its only half an hour away so it will be easier for me to drive to work each day than the victoria/nsw (other states) wineries :okthumb:

damn you for teasing on that wine name

forest, if serge doesn't tell me before hand, can you make it your wine of the week when you call up the Oprano Hotline to leave your wine review :awinky:

I've been buying some Australian table wine cabernet at the grocery. I don't think I have any right now, but the it's about $10 a bottle and the labels are bright yellow, or orange or red depending on what kind it is.

I don't like smoky cabs, so it's perfect for me :)

And one of my favorite cabs was an Australian one I had at Wigs - yummy!

The guy who works on my house is Australian and has a buddy who owns a wine distributor. I need to get in touch with him so I can get someone who can deliver to me, lol!

They were never all sweet to begin with.

You are just as ignorant about Australian wine as you are about Australian history.

I am sorry, joe if I struck your nerve, but your forfathers who gave the birth to the Australian Nation committed genocide...which explains why another aussie, Rob Mac was pissing down from second flooe in Studio 54 during FM's party

Try some wine from this region of NZ if you get a chance, the wineries around Queenstown NZ are producing some spectular wines, though still young.

Pinot Noir

And if you like Sweet/ dessert wine try Seifried's " ice wine "

Forest, yes its victoria region - further north than most victorian wineries(rutherglen region its known as) on the border of victoria and new south wales ... mostly ports and muskat etc out of that region so very curious to see how they do a merlot ... high country, cold & snow in winter - ski resorts nearby etc (there is only 2 in australia LOL)

Forest, you might not ship to down under - but down under can ship to you
:awinky: does your business need an australian office?!

ps, this is really handy: http://wineappeal.com/Products/details.asp?category=11

serge, definately - or anyone with a wine review could just call up the Oprano Hotline :okthumb:

I went to my local bottleshop today to grab a couple of matching bottles for 1) cooking a stew and 2) drinking with the stew

on the 'specials' rack was 2 buller wines, a dry white and a dry red - small almost non existent label, no year, $6.99 a bottle LOL

normally I wouldn't get something that cheap unless I knew the wine but I was curious after you mentioned the merlot. i'm wondering if these bottles are their 'practice' wines for future product lines? The staff said these had been in stock for a few months but they haven't heard anything about a merlot yet ...

anyway, so far its a bit spicy/sweet on the nose but I did just boil a bottle i guess LOL

i'll let you know how it goes!

How much do you guys pay for Yellow Tail up there? It's cheap as chips down under. Time to put your orders in.

I think it was around $9 for the small bottle at the local grocery which is usually more expensive than elsewhere. I'm headed to Marietta tomorrow night and I'll hit one of the wine stores and see what it's selling for.

Unfortunately, if Forest can't ship from FL to GA, I doubt you could ship from AUS to GA. :(

I doubt its much cheaper here, or any cheaper with the $ where it is ...

The few times I shopped for wine in USA pissed me off - you have more of our good wines readily available than we do. Specifically penfolds wines - they have a range of bins which my parents love (389 especially). My sister & I always have to search to find them a bottle each year for xmas but I saw several cartons at a store in Florida with LL.
