I'm pumped... the "2nd season" begins soon. B)

Would anyone here at Oprano be interested in a playoff hockey pool?

Well it's no secret I'm a Leafs fan...

I'm thinking they'll make it through at least one round. Hopefully more.

Detroit better get healthy and quick if they want to stand a chance.

I laugh every time I hear Detroit being refered to as "Hockey Town"

Montreal is Hockey Town. Period.

Toronto is easily #2. If not, its Edmonton or Calgary.

Nothing stops Montreal like a playoff game!

Go Habs!

Yeah I agree
Montreal is hockey town
I remember going up like 5 years agotwith Kent Carlson who played with the team mid 80s
VIP everywhere we went
and Kent was like the 4th line or in sherbrooke half the time he was with them
and he still would pick up dancers at the chez paree like crazy

Evil Chris

Well the Leafs just picked up Ron Francis from Carolina and also Chad Kilger from Montreal.

Ya never know, Toronto could be this years hockeytown.

DrGuile
03-09-2004, 03:01 PM
Francis is what? 42?

and Kilger was in the minors with montreal...

Chris, dont you think bringing in 3-4 new players in a team that was doing quite welll might break the chemistry?

Im still iffy myself....

Chris,

Willing to make a wager? $500 says the Leaf's don't win the cup this year :)

Ugh even more bad news, Lang out 3-4 weeks, there goes our star pickup for the post season, gonna be rough, wouldn't bother me so much if I thought there was a 50% chance there would be NHL next fall but it sure doesn't look like it.

The Lightning will take the cup this year! You heard it here first!

Evil Chris

Great bet guys! I get one team... and you get all the rest?

How about, if the Leafs win, you each pay me $500, and if any other team wins, I pay you each $50?

Dr. Guile, I agree the chemisty might get a bit weird. However the addition of Leetch hasn't been anything but an improvement. We'll see tonight.
As for Kilger, he's been playing kinda soft lately with the Habs, hence his time in the minors. Ferguson must see something in him, though.

Agreed that Leetch was a good move.

Im not saying getting a few big guys to help you out down the stretch is not a good idea. But adding 4-5 is a weird idea.

For Kilger, everyone sees his potential, but he always goes back to being a useless smuck.

btw, he's not in the minor, he's an healthy scratch for the past 17 games, my mistake

Honestly - real hockey fans, knowledgable fans...

Are the Lighting a good team? is it worth catching some of the playoff games?

I am so used to being dissappointed. Saints suck. Hornets are starting to play like the Saints.... So I need someone to pull for who has a good team!

If it wasnt clear from Meni's drunken banter,

The Lightning is currently the hottest team in the NHL. They also have the league leading scorer in Martin St-Louis (he's from Quebec, of course).

If you can, catch a playoff game, they're the best.

If you ever want the full experience, catch a playoff game in Montreal.

MIkeAI - Lets hit some Hockey Games together! Crystal Loves Going!

I had season tickets last year, but couldn't give them away. I used 19 out of 42 games

Used to be true to say that. Too bad the Forum has been replaced by the new Bell Center. Nothing wrong with it, just not the same.

I go to Habs games at least once a month. I was in Toronto last year for a weekend and caught a Leafs/Sabres game. They built the ACC right. You feel connected to the game.

Mike... I highly recommend you go see the Lightning while they're hot.

Chris,

10:1 on the Leaf's sounds fine to me, $500 to you if they win, $50 to me if anyone else wins, I'll take it :) I checked the Vegas line, they're 7-1 but I'll still take it, I love easy money :)

See the Wings shut them down this week, 1-1 tie, could very well be a preview of the Stanley Cup Finals.

I would take that as
a tie away
means wins at home
Tampa over Detroit

but i want the AVs to kick Detroit's ass
and the Bruins go beat Tampa
then my 2 fav teams play

anyone see the Bruins last night?
Predators score on powerplay with like 3 min left to tie
was I worred? a fuckin tie? No
we send out our gorilla sized first line
Thorton scores (exact copy of his first goal) with a nice kinda wrap around with a pick like 1:50 left
2 points thank you

Looks like a violent sport

Evil Chris, I did not know you Canadiens had it in you.

Evil Chris
03-11-2004, 09:06 AM
Mike, this sort of thing happens every few years.
There have been more on-ice fights this year for some reason.

But if you look at NHL hockey in the 1950s, it was just as violent and usually even bloodier.

It's just unfortunate that Moore landed on his head the way he did. I hear this morning that he will make a full recovery though. Good news.

Meni
03-11-2004, 01:49 PM
Yeah Canadians aren't violent
hell I remember being in Thursdays, downstairs in Montreal
and a fight breaks out
2 canucks behind me are shocked, i asked if there are a lot of fights here, they said, "we've never seen one"
then I realize its my friend fighting, so I say, "oh goddamn americans! starting trouble"

Evil Chris
03-11-2004, 02:10 PM
A fight at Thursdays? :o

No, it's not an establishment where you'd see a fight.
But I know lot's of other places. Meni, let me know next time you're in town. LOL

Well Chris since I moved to FL and Montreal is a flight away
a long flight
instead of a bonzai 3 hour 15 minute ride from NH
forget it

and you like the Leafs?
ok
Meni vs Chris
Bruins vs Leafs
i hope we meet in the playoffs
