Step away from the booze and the keyboard,

If you think people avoid CA because of CE you've either got rocks in your head or been drinking too much on the rocks tonight.

But 11% tax alone should be a slam dunk.

The only good things about California is the scenery and the weather, everything else sucks :(.

Should have moved out in 1990 instead of 2000.

We've been looking into moving OUT of California... hub is a native, lived here his whole life except the couple years he was in the Army. My kids were born here... our whole family has moved here now... but I would LOVE to live anywhere but here.

Hub works for the State of California but even if he stays with the state we could move to the borders... Nevada or Arizona. It's definitely a consideration... our house has more than doubled in value since we bought it 3 years ago - we could sell and buy a HUGE home outside of Vegas - now that would be sweet!

I've always kinda figured california is the place I want to end up, even if it does cost more to live there.

just curious, always like to know why people decide that's the place to be :)

I gotta stick up for Cali here. Northern Cali and LA are totally different. I try to stay away from Southern Cali as much as possible!!

- California is one of the most beautiful states in the union.
- California has the Napa Valley.
- I agree the taxes are ridiculous. The taxes are driving the earners out of the state. Businesses and wealthy individuals are moving away. That's a recipe for disaster.

Hey Peaches,

High Prices - Supply and demand... people want to live there.
Taxes - I'm with you.. I'm paying 0% personal now in AK.
Blackouts - That was pretty much a 1 time thing, I think they learned their lesson.
Earthquakes - More people die in Florida from Heat Stroke & Lightening Strikes in FL than Earthquakes in Ca.
Financial Woes - Years of mismanagement caught up to the golden state. I don't see how this would effect someone in our business. If you're poor and rely on the state, I'd definitely be concerned... or If you're a state contractor... What does it mean to the average middleclass person?

The weather in California is probably the best in the country. No Humidity, No Snow Storms, No Hurricanes, etc etc.. :)

haha, I'm sure it is good for the skin.. It's just uncomftable to constantly "pit out" your clothes....

I need to take like 3 times as many shirts with me to NO and Florida because of the humidity!

I want to check out Tampa. That southern/east coast humidity just sucks!! Us California Boys can't deal with it!!

I became a Florida resident just a couple of weeks ago. No state income taxes is a clincher.... but the winters are also 'to die for. Cape Coral/Ft Myers/ Naples is as far north as I want to be.

I have been told that people go from their air conditioned homes to their air conditioned car & on to their air conditioned next stop.... :-) Sure beats defrosting your car to leave the driveway. The better of two evils...:-)

KC, the thing I don't like about earthquakes is that no one knows about them ahead of time :(

I'm like Michael - it's a great place to visit, and I do love to visit there (my Mom and sister are visiting my other sister in LA right now), but I couldn't live there unless I lived WAY north.

No love for the Californians:(

Moving to California was one of the best things I have ever done.

The state tax has never really bothered me as I worked a deal with Zimm to get paid in Kool Aid Points (http://www.kraftfoods.com/koolaid/2001/ka_all_stuff.html)!
