Gas prices way up at the pump the past week. Anyone else notice?

Might not last for long though. US light crude dropped $1.25/barrel today, crude inventories are up, and Saudi Arabia cut their export prices.

Hey Wig,

How about some chart analysis?

They've been stable up here. Of course, I haven't seen a gas station in a couple of days so maybe they've gone up but on Monday, $1.54 for regular here in the hills and over the weekend, $1.47 for regular in Marietta (suburb of Atlanta).

I forgot to add that's not an increase from the $1.47 to $1.54 - that's the usual difference between the burbs and the hills. Sometimes it's been a 14 cent difference - I try to time my fill ups for the Atlanta burbs. :awinky:

Colin,

I do not follow unleaded gas futures and do just a little work on crude.

i really only keep an eye on crude because of the middle east cycles that we have been weaving in and out of since 1998. i do not trade crude.

As far as crude oil goes, i think we are in the midst of a bull market (since 1998) that has a target of at least 44.50/CL.

Short term, a weekly close above 36.10/CL will reinvigorate the uptrend and target 44.50/CL.

Conversely, a weekly close below 31.65/CL would signal a correction.

Either scenario should culminate during alignment of (major) cycles in Feb 2005.

IMHO of course. ;-)

with all said, the gas prices are still 1/2 what Europeans pay for gas....

Went to get gas last week and it was $1.39/gallon. (Where it's been for months.)
Went to get gas Monday and it was $1.55/gallon.

I actually let go of the pump handle and leaned around the van so I could see the sign to make sure the digits on the pump weren't messed up.

We haven't seen gas prices under a dollar here in at LEAST a year. Closest we've come is like $1.03

PS - this is at the least expensive place around to get gas. I'd say it's at least $1.69 at the "normal" priced places. I'll look and see when I take the boys out today.

i hear ya... gas prices do not worry me, mostly because I do not have to drive much.

but, a fundamental case could be made for other repercussions of escalating crude prices.

i am just not interested in trying to figure that out. :P

last time i filled up, diesel was about $1.50

I think it's the only Mini around these parts, lol!

28/37 for gas mileage

Just filled up 10 minutes ago and can not tell you what the price was - I know it was 38 dollars to fill up with super.

Of course with average annual driving of under 4,000 miles gas prices do not really effect me much.

It's because they've got a tidy little engine with a surprising amount of power... it's not the origional rally mini from the 60-70's but it's still a smart little car none the less :D

There's a lot of research on this and i've read some papers in the past. Rule of thumb I remember is that a $10 rise in crude oil will set the economy back about .5-1% but that after a few years that number evens back out.

You change cars? Gas hasn't increased by 3.8x in 3 years. That would have made supreme about .52/gallon here three years ago. Didn't happen ;-)

Damn..has it been longer?? lmao

I remember it seems...going to the pump when it was like .89 cents a gal.

Then again..I also remember about 5 years ago going to the gas station to buy a carton of Marlboro's for like $12.00 a carton. (Cheap here in Ky, no tax. Now days..just 5 years alter..its up to $20 a carton.

It's gone up every where except the SprawlMart - about $1.63 for reg. unleaded now (which is what I use). I'm headed to Marietta tomorrow so I'll see what it is there.

I heard on the news that there was a place in CA where premium was almost $3 a gallon! :zoinks: I will be VERY happy when the kid moves out and I can go back to driving 500-1000 miles a month. :okthumb:

Gas in Boca was $1.98 a gallon today. Up .20 from Broward county.

My thinking is who ever promises to lower gas prices wins the election.

That and brings back Howard!!

I remember it around $.65 down where the kid was playing soccer about 5 years ago. We told everyone about it and there was the whole soccer team lined up to get gas. It was about $.85 elsewhere, IIRC.

We're still at $1.58 for regular at the SprawlMart - $1.55 if you buy a gas card :)
