William Coates died Monday at age 114. He was born in 1889, the same year Adolf Hitler was born. He saw a lot. Coates was already 56 years old at the end of World War II, was 74 when Kennedy was shot, and hit 80 during the Vietnam War. The Berlin Wall fell during his 100th year of life.

And there were only 3 stations. When UHF came around, you MIGHT be lucky enough to be able to watch it through tons of static. :P

He was born before refrigeration, radio, automobiles, human flight, rocketry, interstate highways, skyscrapers, the telephone, the computer, the internet, nuclear weapons, and gay marriage!

When he was young, he was lucky that the lack of technology didn't kill him. When he was older, he was lucky that technology didn't kill him.

lol

Oh shit am I that old already? Lol- I remember when I was maybe 8 and the Beatles were on TV in black and white. Then when I was 10 I was into Elvis movies and remember a few of us girls taking turns adjusting the aluminum foil on the rabbit ears to get better reception which was pretty damn crappy.

Colin, what did he attribute his longevity to?

The antenna thing isnt a good barometer.

Im pretty young (compared to some here ;) and I had 5 channels and a lot of static for the longest time.

How dead is the guy?

If he's only partly dead maybe we can get Miracle Max on the case
