View Full Version : EGO

I was thinking about this last night. This industry is pretty ego driven, so I thought of a few questions:

1) Who has biggest ego in this industry? Now? In the past?
2) Who has an ego that is matched for their personality/history/success?

I have a few answers, but do not want to taint the responses, so I will post my a little later.

This could actually have a couple asnwers based upon:
can this person back up their ego with success?
or just biggest ego in general?

True we all have egos. I consider my ego a business ego. Outside of biz I am pretty boring and normal guy.

Ron Levi has the biggest ego of all time. His wallet almost matches his ego, but not quite.

I have an actually honest question...people making names for themselves and so forth - it's great for this business - in the PT barnum kinda way, but is that what anyone really wants; to be perpetually associated with a porn peddler?

Rationalizations aside..."I just saw an opportunity, blah blah". It's something you will always carry with you when you make a "name".

best of luck -

Ego Is Not A Dirty Word (Skyhooks)

If I did not have an ego I would not be here tonight
If I did not have an ego I might not think that I was right
If you did not have an ego you might not care the way you dressed
If you did not have an ego you'd just be like the rest

Ego is not a dirty word
Ego is not a dirty word
Ego is not a dirty word
Don't you believe what you've seen or heard

If Jesus had an ego he'd still be alive today
And if Nixon had no ego he might not be in decay
If you did not have an ego you might not care too much who won
If I did not have an ego I might just use a gun

Some people keep their egos in a bottom drawer
A fridge full of Leonard Cohen
Have to get drunk just to walk out the door
Stay drunk to keep on goin'
So if you got an ego
You better keep it in good shape
Exercise it daily
And get it down on tape

I would think that the biggest names probably rarely if ever show up on the net on a regular basis.

For example, name the BIG names that were behind Crescent.

Most do not know the people that were there, they know who they dealt with perhaps, or the names that were promoting various factions of it, but who were the folks behind the scenes ?

I
1) don't know
2) don't wanna know
3) please don't tell me even if I ask

some names are the best when they are not known.
I don't have to perjure myself when I HONESTLY say
I KNOW NOTHING...

i dont think i have an ego. i think self questioning and self doubt is essential to growth as a person and in business. maybe i am just insecure or unsure of myself. but i think that those "who know it all" or think they do usually have one thing in common... mediocrity.

I know that and most other's do too - and I'm not trying to piss with you...it's just an observation. Most guys wanna have a family eventually and read the paper in the morning and got to kid's PTA meetings...aside from board BSin'g - all the hype...and this and that - it seems making a name and being an "ego" fucks you in the long run...it may be a fake name...but it will always be associated with porn.

There will always be those who's existence is defined by the porn world and how much shit they can start...they aren't really relevant tho.

Of course I wouldn't help the situation by answering with something like...

Eeekkk Sorry CJ, I got to veto you a little bit here :)

"Jukebox in Siberia" was released in October 1st 1990. After several weeks and limited airplay Skyhooks had the number one single. It was the only Australian single to reach #1 in 1990.

Sad though most of the people in this industry with huge egos have nothing but monetary success to base it upon. Very few of the big egos in this business have any brains.

Good shit.

Reminded me of my old roommate. He would help me with my TI operations and I spent a good portion of that year doing his non tech related papers for pay. He almost lost his financial aid because he couldnt pass his core humanities related classes. Give him a calculator and some formulas, he was a genuis. Ask him anything about history or ask him to write a coherent sentence, he was borderline retarded... which simply means he was an average American.

And I still make more than both of you.

Whats your excuse for failing even though you claim you have a college education?

Im smarter than all of you combined, its not ego if its the truth.

Sad though most of the people in this industry with huge egos have nothing but monetary success to base it upon. Very few of the big egos in this business have any brains.
And that's why you had to limp into a sociology curriculum instead of something which requires the ability to think. Here, this is just for you:

Failing what?

And you think your sociology degree has earning potential? You'd be better off joining the circus.

Earning potential? Thats funny.

I am done earning for the most part. I go to school because I enjoy it and can afford it.

So which is it?

What part of "for the most part" does not make sense to you?

Does it not imply I am still earning to a certain extent?

estrogen, look into it.
