$22k to $15k is a heck of a deal. How did you pull that off?

You need to take a baseball bat with you to get a deal like that.

Yeah, and smash the hood with it, and them complain it has a dent.

I really can't answer... All my friends have told me I have a knack for getting deals on cars...

I wrote down some figures last night and realized that I have never ended up with less than 25% off when dealing on cars... My best has been about 40% when I bought my SHO.....

I just enjoy going in and beating the hell out of Salesmen :)

Actually, there was a "Serge" type dimension on this one....

Back in the business office, manager asks me what price I would buy it for right now... I tell him 15,000....

He comes back and says boss says absolute lowest is 16,646.....

I tell him, ok, but they have to extend the warranty out to 100K (a $1500 value)....

He looks at it and goes... "that puts you back at the 15k, I tell him, yeah I know....

He goes out and runs it past his boss... Comes back and says the boss says he can't give it away, but he is willing to toss a coin for it.... (at this point, Jen is like "what the fuck") I say, "sounds good"...

we toss the coin, I win and they do it at 16,646 including the warranty out to 100K...

So base was 15k, warranty in it (1500 value), exterior protection thrown in (250 value), GAP protection thrown in (400 value).....

The exterior protection and GAP I got thrown in while in the finance office while they thought I was gonna finance through them.... :)

At the end, they are all ready to do up the financing (which is where they thought they would make up their money) and at that point I told them, "Ok, how much do I write the check for"... Floored them :)

It was so much fun....

sarettah - :wnw: to your negotiating skills :wnw:

Thought I was good, I internet shop, find the actual cost of the vehicle (not invoice) the contact 3 dealers via email and let them know I'm Internet shopping that I know the cost and what's their absolute best price.

Then I show up at the best VALUE ..... and walk out 3 times

Every time I walk out I get something added

Hi Vick :)

I did that on the avalanche last March...

On this one, we just went to look really, so I din't know what they had in it...

When I got home I checked Kelly's and they didn't have a blue book value on it yet, they listed the invoice, but not the cost...

So, I really don't know if I got a great deal or just a decent deal...

But like I always say, you aren't ripped off unless you feel ripped off.

Got to thinking about trading the Avalanche in for a 2004 today. Been looking at the blue book etc. Looks like I should be able to get a trade of around 24k on it and I owe less than 20 on it... Enough to do a deal, keep my payment the same but maybe get some fancy gadgets (dvd, gps, etc) thrown in.

I usually buy vehicles and then drive them till they drop. In fact, the one we got for Jen yesterday is the first one I have ever used a trade on (14 year old Volvo 760 that looked and drove like a 14 year old worn out car). All my other cars I basically sold on the street prior to buying a new one, except teh SHO which is sitting out front waiting for some TLC (which I will get to this summer, I will I will I will)

:)

There's a few tricks I use that seem to really work.
When I bought my Harely Davidson F-150, I would email the manager at the Ford dealership like 5 times a day showing him ads in other states that had great buys on the truck. I would aslo show him Ford message boards where they were talking about the deals they were getting.
This guy was stubborn and only wanted to give me 1500$ off sticker.
I just kept harrassing him. Then about 2 days before the end of the month I called and left messages on his phone about how much I would pay and could be there in 20 minutes to pick it up.
He finally got fed up and called me back and said, "fine hurry up and come get it then."

I ended up paying $29k on a $39.5k sticker. I also made him throw in a few options :awinky:

On my wife's Lincoln LS, we just tied up the salesman all day one saturday at the end of the month. We wasted his whole day going back and forth that we wanted it, then we didnt want it.
30 minutes before closing we told him we were not interested because it was too expensive.
We ended up driving away paying $24.5k on a $34k sticker.

CONGRATS! :yowsa:

Wow... that's nice - what a deal. We got a decent deal on our Camry a few years back but that was only because we knew the floor manager - he used to work with my husband. I'm sure we could have pushed him further - but WOW - you worked an excellent deal!

WTG! :rokk:

Im not so good at bargaining....

I dont buy a lot of things, but when I want something, I really want it.... I guess it shows...

Going to look at a used bike this weekend.... Its basically the bike Ive always wanted.... Im going to have a hard time looking uninterested...

on the other hand, the guy selling it didnt plate it last summer, probably wants to get rid of it pretty bad.
